ut4evr...like I mentioned...there were a couple of doors in the garage that we didn't look in to. I'd assume there's a bit of space for skis and snowboards..etc. There isn't really room for even a lawnmower...but then again there's no lawn! Glad you noticed the double door inside just across from the garage doorway. It had a handwritten PRIVATE sign on it and we we told repeatedly not to touch ANYTHING so not really sure how big it was. Notice to that everything you'd bring from the car for the kitchen would have to be carried halfway through the house to get there.

When I saw where the plugs we on the island I commented that you'd need extension cords draped across the length of it. Almost commented on that on the blog then thought maybe folks would think it weird that I couldn't use appliances at both end instead. Notice how close the Vitamix sits at the end of the island.

I didn't think it was wide enough for anything more than what they have now. Notice the space is barely bigger than the chair and table.

I finally posted our review,,,check it out. A book case could go in the entry hall....and be completely out of place.

We toured the house last Thursday and happened to be there at the same time as 4TahoeStar54. Check her comments as she has much more technical detail. What follows are my and my partner's impressions of the house, its furnishings, and its functionality.
My initial comments were too long...so I'll break this into several sections.
Our first impression was that it had a great curb appeal and the woodsy setting was lovely. (More on that in a bit.) We all commented on the use of the rain chains into drains instead of gutters on the front corners of the house, which was a nice touch. My partner asked if there was a rain catchment system and the docent did not know, but suggested it could be easily added. I did notice that the house sits a couple of feet lower than the street and wondered if there might be an issue with water collecting at the door in a heavy rain or snow melt.
The front doors are huge and welcoming. The entryway opens onto a large hall. To the right is the kitchen, to the left is a corrugated metal wall, and straight ahead is a wall of doors and windows leading to the outside entertaining area. It makes a nice first impression.
To the right from the entry you walk directly in to the kitchen and it's huge island. The cabinets, granite and appliances feel luxurious, but functionality was very different from our needs. The kitchen is not really the first thing I'd like guests to see when they enter my house, especially if we're in the midst of cooking or haven't cleared the aftermath. One odd thing we noticed is there is only one double plug at each end of the gigantic island with no other plugs in the cabinets. There may have been some in a drawer, or there could be a special drawer with a mixer lift, but we didn't see it. There is a counter space on both sides of the sink with another plug on either side. In total we found four plugs near counter height in the kitchen. The GE Monogram appliances were top of the line and we loved the hood! Since we weren't allowed to touch anything we couldn't check out the refrigerator and freezer setup, but we think there were at least two freezer drawers. The built in wine cooler was nice, as was the built in espresso machine. I found the space between the island and the wall cabinets to be very tight. Two of us could pass but it didn't leave much room for actually working especially if opening the ovens, refrigerator, freezer, cabinets, etc. We have a galley kitchen and our counters are a bit over 5' apart. I'm guessing this space was 4' or less. Somebody measure and let me know! Our other big concern was the total lack of upper cabinets. The only option for plates or dishes is the open shelving toward the dining room.
The dining room did not work for us at all. It was so close to the kitchen that the open shelving where you would have to store dishes is actually in the dining room. It is a postage stamp space that was completely filled with a table and eight chairs. We have a china closet and and antique buffet which simply could not fit in there -- or anywhere else nearby. It would work for a vacation, but is not very functional for us as a permanent home.
The compact living room is at the other end of the kitchen. Note that there is no TV in the living room, which works fine for us. The windows and outdoor feel is great, as is the fireplace. The whole set up of living/kitchen/dining space works for a small, very casual gathering, but it felt really cramped, plus we prefer to entertain in more separated spaces.
The covered outdoor space directly across from the entry door was almost completely taken up with a table and six chairs. Notice that after the step down nothing is covered from the fireplace to the beautiful grill. Perfect on a starlit summer evening but not so much when there's anything in the way of inclement weather. For much of a normal winter you'd have to shovel snow out of the space just to access, let alone enjoy it. It was nicely staged but didn't really make much functional sense to us.
