I recently called and my Senators and rep in the House to get their position on Cap and trade. Prior to the vote on the budget both Senators (Webb and Warner of VA) had "not issued a statement". I called in again today since the vote on the budget was yesterday (the budget includes provisions for Cap and trade). I finally received a response from Senator Warners office. He is for "responsible cap and trade". What? Gee, I thought it would be better to support irresponsible cap and trade...???? I asked for an explanation of "responsible cap and trade" and was curtly asked if I wanted leave an opinion for the senator. A back and forth insued for several minutes until I was put through to the voice mail of Michelle Milam who handles the environmental policies of the Senator. of course my call was not returned so I will call back on Monday. responsible cap and trade...in this economy that is an oxymron isn't it?
I am going to attend the Tea Party in Richmond VA and they have warned us of the people planning to show up with petitions for people to sign at the tea parties. the plan is appreantly to fron as tea partier but really are against what we are doing. make sure all petitions are read and blow the whistle on anyone trying to trick you into signing something that is not what you are fighting for.
Give it up. Olldranger can go away. He may be a fan of the current government actions and is just trying to start trouble. If he does not want to listen to GB it is his right. This is getting old I am going to read about a real issue.
I voted for Bob Barr (L). I refuse to vote on the least of tow evils anymore like I hear so many say. I knew Barr would not win but felt he was the best of the bunch. If I could do it over I would have voted Ron Paul as a wrte in and hope he can get on the ballot for the next election...if we make it that far.
While listening to GB this morning a caller brought up the $22+ tax on loose cigarette tobacco. I immediately called my local 'backy shop and spoke to the owner. He verified the tax and said it was due to lobbying by the large cigarette companies to keep people from switching from the pre-rolled cigarettes to rolling their own. He also said that he is not carrying loose 'backy anymore because he can not afford the floor tax he has to pay upfront and that he expects this tax to put smaller companies out of business (more lost jobs thanks to our fabulous politiicans). He went on further to say that the companies that remain in business will have to re-package the cigarette tobacco as a finer pipe tobacco to avoid the tax. I asked how these taxes made him feel and if was aware of the coming tea Parties. He said he was angered by the taxes and that he would like info on the Tea Parties in central VA. I am going by this afternoon with info on two tea parties in the area for him. Hopefully I can get him to put up some fliers in his store to get a bigger turnout.
