We go to war because we are young, naive with a sense of adventure. I went because I was tired of all the chores at home like mowing the lawn and taking out the garbadge. I went because I wanted to impress myself. The Air Force would not have me but the Marine Corps would. I was under weight, no muscles to speak of and hardly athletic (so unlike the muscle laden kids joining these days. But that was the "Old Corps". When the drill instructor could use violent physical force to make his point.
Anyways, unlike most, I came came from Vietnam in physical and mental pieces. Took a two years in the hospital to glue me back together again. Another 5-10 years of getting used to a new body and mind. Went to school at your expense and became a professional making a good living. For this I thank all you tax payers out there- Sincerely.
