I tried to watch but didn't make it past (or even through) the brutal rape scene in episode 1. I really want to watch as everyone says it's great, but onscreen rape is just a deal breaker for me now. Anyone else have this problem?

Oooh, you have a nanny. I have so many feelings about nannies! I would love to see a Toast discussion on this one day.

I too abhor Hitler comparisons and find myself thinking, well, but there are similarities...

Specifically, I feel like this dangerous flirtation with American fascism is answering all my teenage questions about how Germany ended up where it did in the 1930s. Our educators focused on how horrible it was and how we should never allow that to happen again, and we never heard about the voters who said, "I admire how he says exactly what he believes," or, "It's true, immigrants hurt our economy," or, "I just want to vote for someone who will make Germany great again." I'm not saying Trump is the new Hitler, but I am saying Trump voters might shed some light on Hitler voters.

This freaked me out, so I looked it up. According to Equus Magazine, "A hot horse needs to take in as much water as he wants to replace what he lost through sweating. And don't worry about the temperature of the water. One myth that still crops up is the notion that letting a hot horse drink cold water will cause colic and muscle cramps. But there's no scientific basis for that fear." So go ahead and drink the water! :-)

I'm pretty sure that watching the Canadian press's treatment of Margaret Trudeau, which was an extreme example of how society acts toward women whose sexuality they consider to be unacceptable, is how I became a feminist in my early teens. Maggie was awesome (and sexy), but you need to understand that at the time NOBODY was saying that. If it was a minority opinion, I never heard it. All we heard was how out of control she was, how unseemly her lifestyle was. It was not a debate. I'm glad public opinion finally changed at least a little bit about the "proper" behavior of women in the public eye.

I had no idea that so many unimpressed reviews of books I have loved would make me feel so melancholy...

Was it Hamilton? Because if it was then we are 100% the same. My current bf does not understand why I am a bit touchy on the subject of Rush.

That middle paragraph is literally hurting me.

I cannot say enough positive things about pixie cuts on toddlers. I'm not even sure the hours my friends spent trying to brush long hair or their toddlers made for cuter photos, tbh.
