Thanks, Jane. Honestly, I'm always worried I'll say the wrong thing. But my goal in writing about race is to interview people of color about their experiences and present that information to white people (and all people) in a way that will make them listen. I'm hoping that, as a white person, I can get across to some white people who might not listen to people of color. It makes me crazy when white people say racism doesn't exist. It's hard for them (and me) to see it because we don't experience it.

Claire, I am particularly guilty of putting social media before my writing! I need to get back on a schedule.

Spoiled kids, Anne! I don't know where the summer went. It zipped by so fast. But I'm glad to be back and I look forward to reading your blog again!

Kate, I am so glad to be back on Earth among my fellow servants! Yay for big people! Although I did manage to catch a cold here on School and spent most of my third day of freedom in bed, I have high hopes that next week will be more productive!

Brian, is your friend Marylayna self-published? Maybe I should self-publish. I just don't know anymore.

That's so exciting! Please check back in three months from now to let us know how it went. We will be thinking about you.

I hear you, Christine! I find that the more rejections I receive, the less motivated I am to write. One solution is to submit shorter pieces to print and online publications (on my list of things To Do). Getting something published - even an essay or book review - will help build our confidence to finish our WIPs.
