It's a shame a lot of bad shit came her way at the same time as this post. One thing - on a personal level, the lesser thing - is the Sydney hostage crisis that happened in her area, and while I don't know if that affected her directly, all the islamophobia it dredged up has bummed her out mightily.
But worse yet, just yesterday she got word that her paternal aunt in Lebanon died, and her paternal grandmother - also in Lebanon - had a stroke (I assume those are related, but maybe not). So now she's trying to raise funds to send her Dad from the U.S. to Lebanon. Here's her GoFundMe page if anyone is interested; so far she has raised $1,345 toward her $2,000 goal.
Sucks when you don't even get a chance to do a celebratory Snoopy dance...
ETA: For anyone who contributed, she has made her goal. On behalf of Ms. Chamseddine - who I've never met nor even communicated with (I'm just a sekrit admirer) - THANK YOU! A couple of her appreciative tweets are here and here.

I hope Putin has taken adequate protections. Now that he is a Russian journalist his life may be in grave danger!
His other tweets indicate that he has been put into a very foul mood by all the Putin adulation.

Did you know that biofouling of ship hulls by hard-shell organisms - barnacles, tubeworms, etc. - results in "hull drag" which affects ship performance, and requires greater fuel consumption to maintain speed and responsiveness? IT'S TRUE!
Ocean acidification might just fix that pesky problem. Sure, organisms are occasionally found to have compensatory mechanisms for temporary variations from the norms of their environments (example, .pdf), but those are likely only good for variations that are short-lived and not too widely variant from the norm.
Just keep cranking down that pH value (lower pH = higher acidity), and the free ride on the hull for those l'il calcareous stowaways will come to an end. Yaaaay!
