Oh....I'm crying. Thank you so much for writing and sharing this. It's lovely. My daughter's father is an alcoholic. She is five now. I am going to print this and put it in her "To Read When You Are Older" file.

I keep a pretty yellow moleskin on my desk at work. i fill it up, on random pages, with quotes from really amazing women about how to be an amazing woman. it's for my five year old daughter when she turns...I don't know...old enough.
Anyway I put this exact quote in there after reading it.

Oh and my daughter's nickname is Jaybird :)

Oh my goodness not too personal at all. This is the Toast, I love you all. Effexor is good stuff. I've been on it for so long (150 mg a day for....forever? Nearly six years-since my kid was born). It definitely keeps "things" manageable. If that makes sense. Do I still get depressed? Of course. Anxious? Duh. Panic Attacks? Obviously. BUT i can't work though them. I can keep going. And there is less of it. And it really does seem to keep me from crying real tears. That was true. Which for me is a big deal because I tend to cry over everything.

One thing is they are strong and withdrawl is dibilitating. There was actually a character in Station 11 (to bring it back to link roundup) who needed some post apocalypse and she broke my heart. BROKE it. So you can't fuck around with it.

I hope this helps and I hope effexor helps you as much as it has helped me. I have been through sooo fucking much and can't imagine doing as well as I have without its help.

Also msg me (lorettalove23@gmail.com) if you ever want to talk about it...

Thank you for linking Elizabeth Alexander's story on grief. That was so powerful it actually fought through my effexor and made me cry real tears.

I just preordered her new book.
