I deeply enjoy Smitten Kitchen's recipes--I don't cook much Western food but the SK recipes gave me a lot of confidence to try it.

(Make the chocolate sables. They're finicky and the dough only comes together right 3 out of every 5 times I try to make them but when they happen they're so, so good.)

This was a place where I found wonder and delight and laughter on a regular basis. I'm going to carry the shape of it inside me forever.

Thank you for everything we were together.

That is the cocktail. Straight gin, swigged directly from the bottle. It's called "I'm Too Witches for Mixing."

Dr. Papaya Junebug, you have done so much for this community with the slack management and I am so grateful to you.

If you redbubbled it I'd buy it on a pillow or something to hug when I'm missing you guys.

Thank you for writing here today to acknowledge this private grief. It means so much that you took the time to do it.

Please, please, please give your children modern literature.

1) Growing up reading Boxcar Children books where a loaf of bread costs something like thirty-five sense really messed up my sense of how the economy works. (Are there children's books that talk about inflation? We need those.)

2) I definitely thought the Cold War was still running in 1999 because I didn't know to look at copyright dates on library books.

3) Was not aware that gollywogs are super racist; thanks so much for that, Enid Blyton!

4) I am now twenty-seven years old and have still not stumbled upon an international jewel-theft ring and I feel that Carolyn Keene owes me a goddamn apology.
