I only found about the Toast going away like last week and it was really a punch to the gut (even though I hadn't checked it for like two months because life and no wifi BUT STILL). I'm going to miss all of you so much <3

I live at the actual fucking Grand Canyon now, so if anyone is coming up to visit, I'm totally up for meeting up! I can give you a couple of hike/sightseeing recommendations and also give you a Death in the Canyon tour because I apparently have a really morbid interest in knowing who has died at all of the sights I'm working at (there's like, five at one of them. yikes).

I'm also lady_bane on Tumblr, so feel free to drop by and say hi if you want. Love you guys!

<3,

"A bit of a thing" is a bit of an understatement...

Have you seen Green Lantern: The Animated Series? It was developed by Bruce Timm, the same guy who did the DCAU, and the amazing Giancarlo Volpe (ATLA and SWCW) and Jim Krieg!

John Stewart is still my favorite Green Lantern (of Earth...) but this show makes Hal Jordan a very likable guy. The one drawback to the show for some people is the CGI style, but I thought it worked very well and was super-pretty!

Bonus: the show is amazingly written and will DESTROY YOUR FEELS. Watch the show!

I LOVE JUSTICE LEAGUE AND JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED. SO MUCH!!!
JLU Superman (And Batman, and Wonder Woman, and Flash, and Hawkgirl, and...) are my favorite versions of themselves. The writers were so good at making them heroic and also still deal with normal human emotions and issues.

Maybe I'll binge watch JLU instead of seeing BvS...

I was ok with most of Man of Steel - up until the tornado scene where everyone goes and runs under an overpass which, btw, is very unsafe, discouraged by NOAA, oh, and HAS ACTUALLY KILLED PEOPLE BEFORE. I was so irrationally angry from that scene that I couldn't enjoy the rest of the movie. I mean, I probably would have disliked the movie anyway but something about bad science just automatically turns on the "Do Not Want!" switch in my brain.

Also that tornado was really shitty looking, lets be honest. Wizard of Oz had a better one, and it used a SOCK as a special effect.

/end somewhat unrelated rant

I got the internship through the Student Conservation Association! There's quite a few of them on the site and most are in National Parks, so take a look if you're interested!

I was literally about to start watching the show the night that episode aired. One of the people I was following (toodrunktofindaurl) is really active in the fandom, so it was kinda heartbreaking to see all of her posts that night.

I randomly wanted to learn 24-hour time as well when I was younger. And by younger I mean like the last year of high school when I heard that was the time France used (I dunno if that's true or not) so I set my computer to it.

Also I kinda like it better??

As soon as I started reading this, my little cookie cat, Kitty Joe, came and jumped on my lap and started purring. Its like she knew I was going to post something about her (or maybe she's just a little snuggle-aholic). Parents and I got her and her sister, Scout, back in Novemeber from the Humane Society. My dad initially insisted on getting another orange tabby like our first cat Berry was, but after he saw these kitties who were being fostered at a friends' house, he changed his mind. Kitty Joe is a sleek calico cat with cool tabby markings, and Scout is a chunky, fluffy grey tabby who we suspect has some Maine Coon genes. They are both snugglebugs and love to get into as much trouble as they can.

But losing pets is hard. Back in September, I had posted on the Toast about losing my gingerbread cat, Berry. We think he had some form of cancer or something, and he was actually fairly healthy right up until the last weeks. Even at the end, he was still loving (despite growling a little at the vet, but then again he had a reason to) and super orange. Family and I miss him dearly, but we're happy to bring some more kitties into our house to be loved. Its what Berry would have wanted, I'm sure, if he had the capacity to think about such things and also if he didn't hate other cats so much.

I'm gonna post pics of the babies on this upcoming open thread! They've grown so much since I last posted about them!
