Actually, I would argue that since a majority of us in this fandom are hands-on style learners (at least that's what it seems to me), that that would be the most effective way to teach such lessons to most of us.

On a side note, I have also had a tussle with depression and suicidal thoughts, so I know a bit of what that part is like too.

Well then stop doing it to me by belittling my personal experiences with the subject. lol.

Also, computers are not necessary. But they essentially are at this point in time to properly function in tandem with others because of how dependent we are on them. Similar with bullying. The lessons it teaches, both directly (the world is a terrible place sometimes) and indirectly (how to handle and/or cope with such things), are essentially necessary to properly function in tandem with others.

In a perfect world, sure, it wouldn't exist. But as much as we'd all love to live in Equestria, we don't (and even there there's bullying issues, apparently). We live in a messed up world, and especially in school where there's generally no immediate danger (no one dying or getting fatally wounded) bullying is a very important tool for learning that. Perhaps necessary was a tad exaggerative, but it's more there because it's part of that phrase than any other reason.

My answer to the question: How often were you picked on by other kids your age when you were growing up? Pretty often. And I'm all the better for it. As someone who was picked on, teased, and bullied a bit I very much hate anti-bullying crap. We're focusing on entirely the wrong aspect. Teach kids to deal with it instead of just saying bullying isn't cool and clicheing the crap out of it for everyone. That does nothing except sometimes even having the exact opposite effect. We're raising a generation of whining pansies instead of making sure they know that life is difficult...which doesn't help with the suicide rates, because when those pansies run into real life problems past some name calling and getting pushed around a bit....say relationship or money issues, they feel hopeless and decide to kill themselves rather than learn to figure out how to deal with it, because they never learned to deal with things healthily. I don't think bullying is right, but, as someone who WAS bullied, I think it's very much a necessary evil.

(may need jailbreak to install...haven't tried that non-jailbroken..but you don't need to be jailbroken to use a lot of the features....you can even get into some of the filesystem without a jb.)
