Well, based on Fosgitt's performance in the Rainbow/Spitfire issue, his style SHOULD be able to carry off a loony premise like this.

I assume that unicorns and pegasi are forbidden to be wrestlers because of their "augmented powers." Earth ponies have their strength, and that's what wrestling is all about.

Will Cheerilee's pupils get extra credit for attending this match?

Who the heck is that guy above me...? Oh well...

This is the closest MLP is likely to get to a "drug use motif" tag. Enjoy the moment.

The main cover appears to be a parody of the Nowhere Man scene in YELLOW SUBMARINE.

A detective adventure involving... dragons. Got it.

I do think that Cook took Rarity a bit OOC in the Applejack FF teamup. Rarity is NOT Goofy, aka Mr. Squaredumb, from A GOOFY MOVIE, going berserkers over every manufactured tourist attraction. Of course, Applejack was a bit thick in that story, as well. That is probably my least favorite of the Cook-Price efforts to date.

Thanks for the good wishes. I am now back at work (though not teaching fulltime until the spring) and my health is good.

There will be an interesting "competition" between Disney and MLP for buyer dollars once IDW gets the new Disney line rolling. I'm going to support both, of course.

She's really good. I like the way that IDW has allowed other comics talents to develop their own personal styles and approaches, but Cook and Price set the bar VERY high right out the chute.

I'm enjoying these MLP comics more than any non-Disney "all ages" comics I've read since, well, I don't know how long. And the best of them give the top Disney talents good runs for their bucks, as well.

I agree. I do like seeing the different art styles. It reminds me of old Harvey and Disney comics in a way, in that the same character can be drawn in drastically different ways and still be immediately recognizable.

Nothing wrong with this offering. "Fearless" Fosgitt boldly presented a drastically different art style, one that presented the adult characters (Spitfire and Dash) as "Toonier" than they truly are. The facial expressions and reactions are great.

Showing Spitfire to have hooves of clay (in a manner of speaking) in this context was FAR more convincing than her unfortunate turn as a conniving, turncoat villain in "Rainbow Falls." The reason for her reticence with the kids was believable... though I would hardly describe her behavior to the recruits as "mean." Demanding, maybe. And it was nice to see Dash helping another character to learn a valuable lesson, as opposed to getting a slapdown on how egotistical, non-bookish, arrogant, etc. she is. That's another side to the element of loyalty, namely, helping your friends to recognize flaws in their behavior and to correct them because, well, they're your friends.

I've been wondering that ever since the early issues of MLPFF, actually. That would be a great contrast of styles!
