I'm quite certain the doctors did all the research needed. At least much more than your 2 minutes on Wikipedia.
So should our government not look out for the well being of animals? That's what laws are for. I agree that the government shouldnt be mandating what I can and cannot eat (ie sugary drinks). But making a specific practice illegal because of its inhumane practices is, in my opinion, within the government's rights.
Nice catch. The "keys" on this iPad are too close for my large hands!
Sounds like Mercy for Animals is a much saner group than PETA. They are asking for the phasing out of these stalls by 2012. That's 10 years in the future. Congratulations to them for realizing that farms can't simply switch all their pens overnight because of budget constraints. They recognize it takes time to do these types of overhauls and are asking them to do so in the next decade. That's something that is much more realistic.
As I've said in other posts, I'm no animal activist, but I do appreciate groups that look out for the welfare of animals in a meaningful way and ask for change is a realistic manner.
I'm no animal rights activist, but the cruel practice of shoving a tube down a duck's throat to forceful engorge the liver is despicable. Who in their right mind would think this is okay?
And kudos to the Boy Scouts for not kowtowing to the opinions of those that hold opposing moral values.
In the same breath, public support should not go to organizations like Planned Parenthood that promote the killing of unborn babies.
You're a little off. Even if Penn State had reported the issues immediately at the time, it would have been handled as a criminal case and would have had no effect on the football program (other than Sandusky not being around any more). This was not a "football" or even "sport" violation, and thus would not have incurred any backlash from the NCAA.
Exactly! Paterno, while maybe somewhat culpable for not going over his boss' head to report the incident, is not the scapegoat a lot of people are making him out to be.
Umm, I'd say KOMO was spot on with their facts (a rarity I know). They interviewed the Sweeneys and reported what they said. Those are facts. Whether the Sweeneys were telling an accurate account is up for debate, but from what KOMO could gather, I'd say the report is accurate. It's not like the border agents are going to give an interview to a news organization.
