If Palin is so "dismayed" by the media frenzy, maybe she should stop talking with the media! She can't seem to stop herself from criticizing the very same media that she seems to love talking to!! God help us if the "Lower 48" should have to endure much more of her.

I am so with you, 100%, on this one, and wish that commenters could just stay on topic!! Why is that so hard?? Those who truly want to participate in the discussion should not have to wade through the 90% of posts that have NO relevance to the stated topic. If it takes reporting each comment, that is what I will do to make the point known to the moderators. Hopefully THEY will read and pay attention.

More 2009 goals:
--to get more involved politically (this election is the first I have ever been involved in) - both nationally, state-wide and most importantly perhaps, locally.
--to work to get Democrats elected in our local/county races (republicans own our town and county and it is time for change)
--to run for the position of Committee-woman for my district

Some of my goals for 2009:
-- to find meaningful employment. I am 54 yrs old and out of work since Sept '07. I need a job desperately, but I hope to find one that allows me to help make a difference in my community.
-- to continue working with the over 400 volunteers I helped organize during the election, to help them to stay engaged and involved in volunteering in their communities.
-- to develop the basis of some semblance of financial independence.
-- to pay off my increasing debt and stay out of bankrupcy.
-- to obtain my own health insurance, with the help of Obama's health care initiatives.
-- to support Obama's administration in any way that I can.
-- to increase my level of involvement in community affairs by volunteering more.
-- to improve my health by eating more sensibly and adopting a workable physical fitness plan.
-- to appreciate each day and moment for the joys that they bring. Life is too short to whine all the time.

"Notice how EVERY post which is critical of Obama selecting Rick Warren gets a MINUS rating."

I give all comments that do not pertain to the subject a negative rating, just because they do not follow the theme of the discussion thread. It has nothing to do with whether I agree or disagree with the comment. Food for thought when you criticize those who give a thumbs down, or up. You might not be aware of the reason behind the action.

As for my goal for 2009: one is to keep the 400+ grassroots volunteers I organized during the election engaged and involved in local/community volunteerism activities. I believe we all need to step outside our insulated lives and help others. Not only is it good for our communities, the country and the world, it is good for our souls to be of service to others.

"To start off the new year, tell us your goals for 2009 in the discussion forum below"

THIS (quote above) is the topic of this discussion. Why is yet another discussion forum on this site, intended for another purpose, discussing Rick Warren and people's opposition to his choice to lead a prayer? Go to the General Discussion forum. Can we please leave this one to discuss the topic of what our GOALS are for 2009!

Why is this forum not a discussion about service? This is not a discussion forum about Rick Warren, marriage or whether or not you are PO'd about Barack's choices. It would be nice if the Moderators could take all the off-topic comments and move them somewhere else. Maybe then we could have a real discussion about service.

"Question from the Transition Team:

What social causes and service organizations are you a part of that make a difference in your community?"

This is not a general discussion forum for what WE want. The question posed to us is about what organizations and/or social causes that we belong to in our communities. Can we stay focused and on topic, please?
