Oh man, The Toast! I'm dusting off my intensedebate account to say how sad I am about this news. Time differences meant I have rarely commented, but reading through the open thread on Saturday mornings is a ritual I'll be sad to see go.
I remember feeling really unsettled by how many color pictures there suddenly were.
Good luck to everyone taking finals around now! I actually took a test this morning, for the first time in oh eight years. It wasn't until they started passing out the exam papers and reminding us how to correctly fill in the answer sheets that I had an anxiety flashback. It was kind of funny to feel that again!
Good luck! Know that it will all be over soon.
Oh, I'm so sad! Many years ago (oh the '90s) my mom told my high school I had a dentist appointment, and I left school early to go wait in line to see P. D. James at a book signing. She was so small, and carried a handbag just like the queen. I told her how much I loved her books, and she said, "oh, I do hope you'll like this new one."
Oh, I feel you (and I don't think you're a monster). While I mostly get along with my MIL, doing holidays A Different Way was a bit of adjustment, as was trying to make polite conversation with my MIL's friends, Conspiracy Theory Bob and Racist Rolf.
Ooohh I hadn't thought of that. Jay's story is so specific (if shady) about Adnan's guilt. I wonder why he would implicate Adnan for no reason, but if they were both involved that would be a good reason.
As a general rule, I'd say stick to the registry. Unless you are REALLY sure that your gift is something your friend will appreciate and doesn't already have (maybe sentimental value relating to your friendship?), go with the list.
Definitely! After listening to him read the 10 minute excerpt, I'm thinking I might go for the Audiobook version. Eeeeek, so excited.
