I don't necessarily think that's true, though. I know I and quite a few friends use credit cards as charge cards, basically making use of the interest-free money for 21 days (and often reward programs like Air Miles or Aero Plan or cash back, etc.) and then paying them off each month so we don't get charged interest. I mean, any person with a brain should be using credit cards and not debit cards in this way (unless you happen to have a bank plan that gives you unlimited debit transactions)--the big reason banks push debit/Interac payment is because the system is set up where a charge per transaction is paid by the consumer (and probably the merchant as well), whereas with credit cards there is no consumer per-use charge ever.

But credit cards have had this kind of "no signature/PIN required" technology in place for a while (well, Mastercard, at least... VISA seems to have been late to the game here in Canada). For Mastercard it's PayPass and for VISA it's PayWave. So it's not like financial institutions are setting this up for debit and not for credit. What I find really telling, though, is how PINs and chips were introduced for credit cards ostensibly as a security measure, and debit was kinda hailed as more secure because it's always required you to input a PIN, and now they're moving to a much less secure system (albeit, sure, with a transaction limit). To me that's just another bit of proof that these companies are not at all concerned with our security. They're concerned with their profits and nothing else.

Yes I know none of the mascots was an otter... but it has that same overly-cutesy feel. *sigh*

I love how you thought I was talking about the TTC. Ha ha ha. Silly Beth.

That would be funny about the choice of Umbrella: "Hey, I forgot my Umbrella!" And Rihanna could do a theme song!

Thanks, Beth. It was definitely not a good day. Probably not as bad as I made it seem but definitely not good.

I'm so glad you can have a real career now and not that fake one where you have to hang out with real doctors.

As for me as a wannabe, while it will be fun to be Dr. Kalev, that's not really why I'm doin' it. :D

Yeah uh... no. Unless you want me to call you Dr. Not A Real Doctor or Dr. Pretentious. :D Actually, that could be your rap name: Dr. Pretentious B.

I'm not a fan of cultishness, whether it's religious, Tom Cruise-ish, or technology-ish. So you can go be all Inbox Zero-ombie-ish somewhere else, missy.

You "listened" up on the Inbox Zero thing on one of your books on tape/CD/mp3 things, right?

If I took emails out of my Inbox, I would never look at them again, so achieving Inbox Zero in that manner wouldn't be very useful. Not to say I necessarily look at the oldest emails in my Inbox all that often but definitely more than if they were filed somewhere else.
