It depends what you’re looking for, but try to drive as many of them as possible. If you want a nice interior and AWD, go with the Audi. If you want a better drive, go with the BMW. If you want to save some money, go with the Mondeo. The Passat CC and Volvos are lower on the list.

As far as John Buffam goes, he's never raced in WRC to my knowledge either. It seems that he raced almost exclusively in the USA. Care to share a link to proof otherwise?

You're absolutely right. The only hang-up is that people who clamour for fast, sporting, little diesel cars are the same people who haven't bought a new year in... ever. These people are more likely to buy a '98 miata or a Datsun 510 or race in LeMons than pay $35k for a new car.
