I've been sitting here frozen in horror for a good 30 seconds, trying to muster the wherewithal to reply or at least move on with my life. Everything will now be divided into before I knew that and after I knew that.

NO! Why would you even? (And yes, I have written long scholarly articles on Oklahoma!).

Minstral show number = sooooo awkward at the end, with this big finish, and then Susan and the General and the maid just sit there and clap awkwardly in that big empty ski lodge (I think we've established that the lodge is...ideal).

Now that I will fight you on. I maybe sing that song to my daughter. (I totally sing that song to my daughter. So much fun to sing!)

Yes, but no, but yes, but no. On all of them. I mean, I feel you. Growing up watching movie musicals, we always skipped the dream ballets. And we had to manually fast-forward those VHS tapes, so you know the devotion was real. But now, as someone who studies and teaches musicals and movie musicals, those dream ballets, especially Broadway Melody, are so cool to write and think and talk and teach about! I see the light! Except that I guess I'd still rather READ about the Oklahoma! dream ballet than WATCH the dream ballet, so...

ALSO! Can we talk more about Lucky Star? Ugh, the worst. Yes, one of the most teachable scenes in the movie, but UGH THE WORST. Cut that first. And there are so many dream ballets unnamed here - Carousel, Silk Stockings, On the Town... Why were these so trendy? Where was the innovator who would lead us out of this dark land of dream ballets?
