So can I go straight from JB/UL 4.3.3 to JB/UL 5.0.1 via pwnage tool 5.0.1? (I have the OEM 5.0.1 IPSWs and SHSH's saved. so I just create a custom 5.0.1 IPSW and option-restore to apply it?

I currently have a jailbroken & unlock-able iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.3. I want to get to jailbroken & unlockable 5.0.1. I'm obviously cautious and don't want to screw anything up but i'm unclear what the process is?

I know I have to use a custom ipsw throughout the process but I've only ever used pwnage before and am unclear how redsn0w figures into the process.

Thank you again for your help. I've finally succeeded in getting back to 4.2.1 JB after rebooting. Don't know exactly what it was, but it could have been something lingering after having updated TinyUmbrella (maybe the hosts file was out of date or the TSS server was conflicting with something). Don't know, just happy that after restoring about 40 times I'm finally back to 4.2.1... I'm going to wait for 4.3.2 before trying to upgrade again.

Everything is on Mac

I'm running the latest TU v4.30.05
SHS'H's saved for:
iPhone4 4.0.1 (8A306)
iPhone4 4.0.2 (8A400)
iPhone4 4.1 (8B117)
iPhone4 4.2.1 (8C148)
iPhone4 4.2b3 (8C5115c)
iPhone4 4.3 (8F190)
iPhone4 4.3b1 (8F5148b)
iPhone4 4.3b2 (8F5153d)
iPhone4 4.3b3 (8F5166b)

Again. I'm back to 4.0.1 and not jail broken. The phone activates legitimately through AT&T, but I want to save my ability to unlock later if necessary.

I've put it in DFU and tried restoring my custom ISPW for 4.1 & 4.2.1 and neither works. It goes through the installation like it's restoring, but at the end I get a 1600 error. 4.3.1 doesn't work either but it fails at the beging saying I'm not allowed to install this versions, which obviously is because TU doesn't have the blob for it. I'm confused why Cydia doesn't have that blob saved, but it's too late now. The only IPSW that has worked is the official 4.0.1 one.

At the end of the restore I end up with an error (1600) at the end with a black screen on the phone... the phone is recognizable at that point to iTunes as being in recovery mode but is completely unresponsive to power and home keys... just a black screen, and the vibrate switch doesn't even make it vibrate.

I'd really like to get back to 4.2.1 Jailbroken. Maybe I've done this so many times I'm missing something obvious.

I create a custom IPSW with pwnage 4.3 using the simple method (I tried advanced too). At the end I follow the timer and put the phone into DFU. It shows up in iTunes needing to be restored, I option-click restore and select the custom IPSW, it spend 15 minutes restoring/verifiying etc... and then I get a 1600 error.

I'm going to reboot and give it a try in a couple hours... thanks again for the help.
I put it in DFU,

Thanks. Any idea why 4.2.1 is failing then? I do have blogs for 4.2.1 in TU, I'm running the TSS server, it goes through the process like it's going to work and then I get a 1600 error at the end of it. I already cleared out the /Library/iTunes folders....

Update... still getting a 1600 error when trying to restore to Custom 4.2.1. It seems niether Cydia nor TU saved my SHSH for 4.3.1, not sure why as I'm careful to open up Cydia at least once per week.

Help Please. Something went wrong upgrading my iPhone 4 from 4.2.1 to 4.3.1 using a pwnage created custom IPSW. It left my phone in recovery mode (black screen, but recognizable to iTunes). I managed after quite some time and hair pulling to restore back to factory 4.0.1 using TinyUmbrella (which is the OS I bought the phone with). So good news, still at baseband 01.59.00

The thing is when I try to install either my custom 4.2.1 or custom 4.3.1 it fails and I have to again go back to 4.0.1.

Do I need to be running TinyUmbrella's TSS Server to restore a custom IPSW for 4.2.1 or 4.3.1 right now? ...since Apple is presumably only signing 4.3.2. I never tried to do a custom restore to anything other than current.

I'm about to try recreating the custom IPSW for 4.3.1, but I'm getting frustrated.

I'm confident that the profit's AT&T raked in over the last few years is WAY more than the difference going forward between AT&T's and Verizon's deal with Apple.

Thanks, JB'ing is no problem I've done this about 50 times, I just wanted to be sure that the Custom_IPSW Pwnage 4.3 created wasn't going to update my baseband... maybe I should have asked that way.

Can we use Pwnage 4.3 to upgrade an iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.1 _now_ if we want to maintain the ability to unlock _later_.

I don't need to unlock now (I'm on AT&T and have never unlocked, but don't want to lose the ability to do so if/when I need to). It sounds like the answer to this is yes, but obviously I want to be sure.
