The Taliban are gutless and cowardly. The British by dividing India, only sowed the seeds for modern terrorism and the taliban.

The Taliban are the vilest of humans. They never would have dared try anything of the sort pre-partition of India, but now safe in the knowledge that Sikhs are largely on the other side of the border they are emboldened to try such things.

Sikhs everywhere know full well the depravity that Muslims have unleashed in the past, are doing and will do again. The Muslims who don't believe in Islam to the same extent as the Taliban don't have the guts to stand against them on their own and may end up slaughtered or oppressed themselves. This is just an example of what awaits India unless it wakes up. No one can point out enough what kind of place Pakistan has become since its independence and what it wants to turn the entire subcontinent into (a cesspool of violence).

re: Infidel Pride's comment.
The difference that people like Infidel Pride and others should realize is that Sikhs hold India to a higher standard, and the failings of India's democracy, polity, and justice systems in regards to minorities only add to the level of frustration at the fruits of freedom not being realized despite all the sacrifices surrounding 1947 and afterwards.

Infidel, I just read this article and your fascetious call out is just theatrics.

Why is it that you believe Sikhs who stand for the Sikh nation are anti-India automatically? In the west pointing out the faults of government and fighting for justice are considered commendable, but if a religious minority does the same in India, he is automatically deemed "anti-national" or "traitor" rather than patriot? Maybe you should examine why it is that a patriotic community within in India would over time find India to be a false promise? Perhaps instead of blaming those who point out the failings of India you would work to correct the system there.

People who actually believe in Sikh philosophy, way of life, totally reject caste system. Those who accept it are deluding themselves if they think it has any place in Sikhism or Sikh practice.

Sorry to take it off topic, but Vikrant your comment required a response. For the record, I dislike people who believe in entitlement and having worked with enough Indians and visited India enough times I recognize the sense of entitlement and superiority the upper castes have versus rural peasants and low caste hindus, etc...

Vikrant, you proved my point... people who became Sikhs during the time of the Gurus and until the British had been weaned away from casteism, but today it is back. The bumper stickers hint at it, but the marriage ads surely confirm it. Its not just an infection that has reached Sikhs, but Christians and Muslims practice caste system also. Just ask any low caste Hindus who converted to those religions how muslims with last names like sayyid, khan, etc... are treated versus them, or how in Goa christians will ask each other if they are 'B's (meaning brahmin converts) before marriage, etc...

Also, don't kid yourself caste system was a creation of Brahmins/ Pandits - Manu might have his name attached to them (laws of Manu), but he's not the only one, it doesn't matter that there are divisions amongst the Brahmins also.

Do I really have to spell out every religious group to not qualify as a religious bigot? I've already stated somewhere else my concern for the rural peasantry and that no doubt includes people who aren't Sikh. Let me be clear I have nothing against individual muslims who like Pir Buddhu Shah and others don't harbour enmity against others on the basis of religion.

Also, I wrote that CASTE System came back into vogue AFTER the advent of the British and post-British rule. So, I recognize the evil of caste being in Punjab today and having made a comeback.

Thanks.

Agreed, but my point is that the bulk of Hindus will be sacrificed by the Rajput, Khatri and Brahmin elites.

I'm not a religious bigot, so as a result, I'm not only concerned with Sikhs, but also the lower caste Hindus who always get the short straw... who if they didn't convert moved to the Punjab from other states, which if you look at any census you'll see that Punjab has the highest proportion of SC in India as part of its population, even though Haryana is next door and equally agricultural. The difference being the caste differences being muted in Punjab, where caste stigma wasn't there to the extent in other states at the times of the Sikh Gurus and Khalsa Raj... The advent of the British and post-British rule no doubt bringing much of this caste stigma back into vogue.
