These are just getting more and more fascinating. I had never heard of Marie Equi, Sheila Guyse, or Toni Stone. Wow!

Sausagedog, your last bullet point echoes my own feelings very strongly, right down to the "too good at the clean break". I am so fond of all of you and hope we meet again someday.

This is such an enormous, complex, important piece that there's no way I can say anything comprehensive about it. So I'll just say two things.
1) There is so much history woven throughout this piece -- thank you for sharing it with us. It made me want to learn more.
2) The part about the search for the lost guest houses and their proprietors gave me shivers: the past (and, heartbreakingly, the present) as a ghost story, all the more chilling for being real. I am so sorry to hear that you can't stay in the place that you tried to make home.

I just finished the Miss Havisham piece, and wow! I can see why you didn't want to have to put it down!

Sometimes you want your Amazon Basin denuded, sometimes you want your Falkland Islands landscaped. It's good to have options

Yeah, honestly I'm *more* excited to see what she does on her own than within the Daily Show paradigm.

I like the idea that the unrestful and/or vengeful spirits of the Hey Ladies are hanging around heir own funeral and making things awkward and stressful.

There's always at most one picture of me from any given party I attend, usually doing something boring and unphotogenic. I am really relieved that I can be 99% sure nobody is orchestrating this situation.

My thoughts are with the UK toasties, especially after seeing (CN: racism, xenophobia) this piece in the Guardian. I hope the atmosphere changes for the better soon.
