I walk the same route a couple of times a week and see cars speed (speed limit is 25MPH) through that stretch of road all the time. People use it to get to I405 during the week days. I hope the Renton police increase the patrols of the area and I really hope this women recovers fully to returns to full health.

Drop Seattle and bring to the Eastside. They can seal with the old Key Arena and lost events and revenue to Bellevue.

Did you read the proposal?? If you do not go to the arena you do not pay for it via any tax. It is paid for via a admissions tax not a sales tax, rental car tax or any other tax. You are passing a opportunity for the city to get a new arena that can support other new events and uses plus the arena group will help pay for renovation of Key Arena to make it more usable.

It's about value above all and with all the reasons listed in the article I would add the cost of getting there. That not only includes gas and parking but the cost of time. With Seattle extending the parking meters to 8PM (plus the cost of $4/Hr) or the cost of private parking ($20) the time cost of congestion (across I90 for me) and tolls. All of this has made me very reluctant to go to the games. It is funny since one of the things I listed on my to do stuff when I retired was to get season tickets and go to a lot of Mariner games because I would have the time. Boy have things changed in 10 years.

The lease as proposed would protect the team from leaving. Also the ownership is "local". Compared to other agreement (e.g the Kings) the ownership is putting up considerable funds, The city also gets a NHL team, a facility that could hold conventions it currently can not plus other events like the NCAA events we use to have. The Key can not support the NHL as it was purposely not designed to do so at the last remodel. Also the Key was paid off when the Sonics left town.

For someone who wants money for education you should learn to spell. The money used to pay back the loan comes from taxes on the revenue generated by the arena. No arena no money. There is no dollars to reallocate to education!!

Didn't the social worker first call her supervisor and was then told to call 911??

How much time did that take? Five more minutes? I would think someone who is supervisoring a visit would have the training to immediately call 911 if there was trouble. Then she had difficulty communicating the urgency (the 911 operator did not help things either).

I guess what I am saying here is that it was multiple failures by all the persons involved here that delayed a police response. I am not sure everything going right could have saved the kids but the people involved seemed to do a bad job.

Agree, additionally what if the Feds increase the rates on capital gains and with the additional state capital gains tax, you end up paying a higher rate on capital gains than on real income. When we finally come out of this downturn, the windfall revenues from this could be another tax will be huge source of revenue for the state and we will again be in the situation the state will be looking for ways to spend it.

By your post you don't live in KC so I am assuming you live in another, less populated part of the state. I would guess you probably don't pay fully for your infrastructure and are subsidized by the King residents. I would love for you to have your way so I don't have to pay for your roads and bridges.

High prices (including outlandish prices for snacks), low quality (too many remakes and teen oriented films) coupled with better tv's and DVDs combine for low attendance. I used to go all the time and saw a lot of marginal films but with the cost so high now I wait for the DVD or digital release. High DVD prices have me buying fewer and fewer DVD too.
