Yeah, there's a young girl in my extended family whose parents and grandparents like to make her hug other adults. It drives me nuts. My mom helped my pack up and move out of the apartment I'd been living in my last year of college. One of the bags she took down to her car had my vibrator tucked into it, which she didn't know until she dropped the bag accidentally and it started buzzing. The crows at one of the soccer fields in town when I was a kid had learned that youth soccer players often were accompanied by lunch leftovers and had figured out how to open zippers. They would open up your bags and go through them looking for leftover food during practice.
In BC when they added the Salish names of places to road signs along the Sea to Sky for the Olympics they used the number 7 to represent glottal stops. Not sure how or why it was chosen, but at least one Canadian government entity decided that was how to address glottal stops.
Keep in mind that the Guardian article is a little different than the actual UNEP report. The actual report acknowledges that animal-based resources have a larger carbon footprint than plant based ones (which we've known for years), but also says this (referring to plant crops): "It is also noteworthy that agricultural materials contribute significantly to global warming, despite their CO2 capture during growth. This is due to the intensive nature of European agriculture."
And then in the actual conclusion section, the only thing about changing people's diets is this : "A substantial reduction of impacts would only be possible with a substantial worldwide diet change, away from animal products"
So no, the UN is not just telling everyone they need to become vegan to stop climate change
