I recently was gifted a bottle of wine from Cupcake Vineyards that surprised me with how tolerable it turned out to be.

Yeah I used to work for a horse trainer that was an anti-vaxxer homeopath nut. I started looking for a new job when she decided that COPD, navicular, and cataracts could all be treated with homeopathic sugar pills.

Yeah, there's a young girl in my extended family whose parents and grandparents like to make her hug other adults. It drives me nuts. If she doesn't feel like hugging me I'm going to give her a wave and not make a fuss. She shouldn't have to hug her grandparents' friends or the distant cousin she sees every couple of years.

Yeah, helpfully the USGS did at least spell out those requirements in their job postings, so I'm dealing with the evaluation process now while I work at a stables. Hoping to be able to get an application in for some of the wInter positions, although there aren't many of those.

Ah, yes. I looked at Park Service jobs last year, and wound up in extreme confusion, because I have a foreign degree (Canada) and the website the Park Service directs you to in that case actually has nothing to do with foreign education.

My mom helped my pack up and move out of the apartment I'd been living in my last year of college. One of the bags she took down to her car had my vibrator tucked into it, which she didn't know until she dropped the bag accidentally and it started buzzing. I got down to the car with the last load and she goes "oh, I took the batteries put of your vibrator, didn't think you needed it turning on accidentally again."

The crows at one of the soccer fields in town when I was a kid had learned that youth soccer players often were accompanied by lunch leftovers and had figured out how to open zippers. They would open up your bags and go through them looking for leftover food during practice.

In BC when they added the Salish names of places to road signs along the Sea to Sky for the Olympics they used the number 7 to represent glottal stops. Not sure how or why it was chosen, but at least one Canadian government entity decided that was how to address glottal stops.

Keep in mind that the Guardian article is a little different than the actual UNEP report. The actual report acknowledges that animal-based resources have a larger carbon footprint than plant based ones (which we've known for years), but also says this (referring to plant crops): "It is also noteworthy that agricultural materials contribute significantly to global warming, despite their CO2 capture during growth. This is due to the intensive nature of European agriculture."

And then in the actual conclusion section, the only thing about changing people's diets is this : "A substantial reduction of impacts would only be possible with a substantial worldwide diet change, away from animal products"

So no, the UN is not just telling everyone they need to become vegan to stop climate change
