It's nice to see that this movie resonated with most normal people. The only part that was hard to watch was when the terrorists were torturing the woman agent. That disturbed me more than I thought it would.
Good point! That was a very interesting scene. It even made me feel uncomfortable. The interrogator was constantly changing tone. Sometimes friendly, sometimes mocking (the whole christoff, crisco riff), sometimes angry. By the end it looked like the smuggler would have traded his right eye for a way to satisfy his captors.
I think the line was a reference to the fact that aiding a jihadist is akin to abetting the murder of Jews in Israel and elsewhere. In other words a traitor against his own people. That sounds logical to me. Sort of like how we felt when they found John Walker fighting against Americans in Afghanistan.
I'm glad to see it's doing good box office. I liked it a lot. My wife liked it but I think it shook her up a bit. I hope the producers can use this experience to calibrate their plans to produce more films that speak to real American values. I think if they keep their budgets lean they can make money and we can go to movies that aren't disgusting.
So one of those links said that Joss Whedon is going to produce a genuine hit with the Avengers movie. I hope so. Iron Man and Captain America had pretty good movies. Didn't see Hulk or Thor but heard some good about Thor (not so much for Hulk). Maybe if he gets a mega-hit he can push for another adventure in the 'Verse. Maybe just Jayne Cobb as a gun for hire. I hear Adam Baldwin is available!
Yeah, I think they're setting up the girl friend to cause a disaster. Every time he goes out with gun drawn to investigate an intruder and tells her to stay in the house, she follows him out and leaves the front door open behind them. Eventually I imagine something is going to sneak in the open door and later ambush them in the house.
So far the show's been relatively entertaining and the liberal sucker punches relatively low key. If either factor changes significantly I'll drop it. But for now it's still on the calendar.
Besser and DeRita? Now you've ruined my day. If I ever thought the republicans had reached that level I think I'd have to throw in with the Pentaveret. It's better to be evil than reach down to that level of hackdom. Seeing Moe and Larry in their dotage still soldiering on with the joes was depressing.
My favorite ad was the Doritos ad with the dog bribing his owner into keeping quiet about his cat eating activities. Probably not a big hit with cat owners but it cracked me up.
