thank you so much for this sweet response. it is really, truly, very kind. i do still follow blogs--i love reading them!--but have always struggled with keeping up on mine--feeling like what i have to say is important, differentiating what i should post online versus what i write in the paper journals that i keep (which is: everything). i must say that in the year that has passed, my ability to bring myself out of these generally pretty crummy days has seems to have improved--using the kinds of things you mentioned, and that i responded with. which is why it really, really, meant so much to me. because i have spent the past year (okay, years) trying to figure out what i can do to make things a little easier, trying to recognize the good things, even if nothing feels good. and you talked about the little things, the not-so-common recommendations. the real things you can do when things are really hard. that authenticity is refreshing.

you didn't! but considering that i am a wannabe pioneer native american hybrid cliche vegetarian woman loving forest dwelling hippie... i obviously loved hatchet and was pleased to find the sequel, AND a nonfiction about gary paulsen entering the IDITAROD (!!), for, oh, fiddy cent each?
