To be honest I probably am more libidinous and mischievous than the rest...but that's only okay when we say it.

My favourite Toronto soft news story of last year was the peacock that escaped from the park zoo and, for a significant part of the spring/summer, was photographed faffing about in various lawns and gardens in the surrounding area. This year we've lost two capybaras, and it's shaping up to be another summer of hilarious stories of someone's neighbour seeing The Capybaras in their yard, just yesterday, they swear.

I remember 0% of the whole entire course I had to take on this in uni, and I'm GLAD OF IT. Wouldn't want it taking up important brain space I need to remember radio advert jingles from the late 90's!

My Wife’s Lovers, 1891, Carl Kahler

Fun facts:

-It cost $5,000 in 1888 to have this painting made, which is more than $120,000 in today’s money.
-I say 1888 because it took three years for Kahler to complete, reportedly because he spent most of the time studying and sketching each cat to get a feel for their personality.
-It was painted for Kate Johnson, the title was her husband’s idea though, proving him the most patient and good-humored husband in the history of crazy cat ladies.
-Speaking of cat ladies, the picture actually contains 42 cats. Or more specifically, Mrs. Johnson’s 42 most favorite cats. She had 350 in total.
-It sold at auction via Sotheby’s a few days ago for over $800,000 dollars, vastly more than its $200,000-$300,000 estimate.
-The buyer is a private collector in California.
-Probably someone who really, really likes cats.
-I mean, really likes cats.

That movie poster was, INEXPLICABLY, featured in my high school media studies classroom. In like...2005. Why? What were they trying to promote here?

Also, this was one of those movies that had a real predrink-Renaissance in my group of friends during university. Nothing says "getting read for a night out!" better than this insane garbage playing in the background.

So what I'm saying is, this movie is stalking me I guess???

I read that Scarlett Johansson was pregnant for most, if not all, of the filming of that last Avengers movie, so they just CGIed it out! The future is now!!!

My dad has firewood that he has moved with him at least four times. He has packed firewood and loaded it into a moving truck. Because it's the good stuff. Special occasion firewood for Thanksgiving and Christmas fires only. DADS!
