FWIW the same issue exists with Apple, for people who set up mobileme accounts after having previously set up iTunes accounts. You can do all of the functions under a single account (mail, idisk storage, syncing of calendar & contacts, purchasing music, etc), but it's difficult-to-impossible to merge two.

This is a dumb little UI thing (and maybe there's a workaround i'm unaware of), but when a dialog box pops up in windows, typically with 2 or more options on it such as "OK" or "Cancel", I always use the arrow keys to toggle my selection and the return key to enter. Often, I will just hit return to accept the default.

On mac, you can't tab or toggle the settings with keyboard, and there doesn't always seem to be a default that triggers on return.

Totally agreed. Someone in BP was able to hear, review, test, and scale this technology http://nyti.ms/9IDVGq. The COO is quoted in the article, though I imagine there's a team here. There are also several other research groups and potential access points mentioned.

Six degrees of Kevin Costner, anyone?

That is beyond awesome.

I had a colleague who used to find out what flights people were on and then adjust their meal and seating preferences in all kinds of unpleasant ways... just a thought ;-)

Just catching up with this thread but will be interested to see if it continues. To push the food analogy further, many believe factory farming is not only bad food, but bad evolutionary defense (taking away species diversity etc). In the curious form of Darwinian survival that is our decreasingly free market, the comparison may continue to fly.

Yep - the Kindle is awesome, unexpectedly so. But the absence of any social dimension whatsoever is a real miss. I want to tag stuff in delicious, highlight and share, recommend articles, review things I've just read on my blog, etc.
