I'm not sure why they couldn't wait a week. Surely it makes more sense to clean up beaches AFTER the 4th of july...

The fact that this is even a question for you tells me you suggests you really need to get a life.

I was quite disappointed in Microsofts presentation. I've got an xbox and windows 8 running on a tablet and and windows phone and there are so many amazing, life changing features of these devices and microsoft just doesn't know how to show that to the world. They focus on things that people just don't really care about. They don't excite you.

It's a shame because they're doing a lot of really cool stuff, they just aren't telling anyone for some reason. Playing personalized music video playlists on my xbox is AWESOME. It's also a feature I had to trip across and show all of my music junky friends who have xboxes and ALSO didn't know it was there.

Just a shame.

If you own a windows phone, there is absolutely no use for a media player (zune, ipod, anything). The same isn't true for Apple because they don't offer a subscription with their phones. This is where MS is actually ahead of the curve.

And I would say the kinect was a pretty successful piece of hardware given that it is the hottest selling piece of hardware to hit the market EVER.

I know 3 people who converted from iPhones to Windows phones. I dont know a single person who has gone the other way and those that converted never complained or went back. To me that says a lot.

It's a personal opinion but I will leave you with this, if you play xbox or love music the iPhone can NOT compete. Xbox live interaction on the phone and the zunepass are absolutely game changers for people into that. I've been on both sides and personally prefer the Windows Phone.

I'll stop there. If you'd like I have a hundred more of these types of items. Microsoft is way more sophisticated than you would ever understand with your closed minded view of the world, but I assure you; as someone who works in the private sector with a LOT of major enterprises, Microsoft is not in a race to obscurity. They are the absolute core of technology and innovation. You j ust don't see it. They may not be sexy, but they are there.

Hows this to support your claim: Xbox. Came out when Playstation was the new king and Nintendo was just knocked down. Everyone questioned Microsoft's sanity as it was a VERY crowded market that saw dreamcast struggling. Now it's the king with the Kinect becoming the hottest selling technological device of all time.

Yes, Kinect is a Microsoft product that is setting the bar and outsold iPod, iPad and iPhone on their respective releases. It's cool though, the iPad held the crown for a whole month. http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/kinect_is_se...

And iCloud reportedly runs on Microsoft's servers: http://www.neowin.net/news/apples-icloud-to-run-o...

And you want day late and a dollar short in smart phones, how about Google. Who just happens to pay microsoft a hefty fee to use their technology in their cellphones: http://www.infoworld.com/t/android/microsoft-make...

You don't know what you're talking about. Bing hit in 2009 and is the 3rd most commonly used search engine with 80 million unique visitors a year. That's right behind google's 150 and yahoo's 137, which yahoo is ALSO powered by BING. http://www.listofsearchengines.info/

The zune is a huge component of Windows Phone and has a fairly successful subscription service that still gets rave reviews over the iGuys.

Sounds like your issues were due to the fact that the person had used up their phone's memory. I'm running the OS on an HTC Arrive and it's slick and smooth.
