"allowing"? It will stop when the demand stops. As others have ntoed, there is very little in the stores that is not made in China. Willpower on the part of the consumer is the only way it will right itself; when the consumer can say "no" and stick with it, it will send the message through the inventory orders of the retailers.

The damage was done long ago when we all stood silent as the "free trade" agreements globalized the labor force, and naturally labor intensive (and environmentally dirty) work shifted to the lowest cost places. We cannot "disallow" imports in general, or the WTO will be used against us. We cannot inspect every item that comes in, so caveat emptor. Close the wallet, its a message they actually understand.

Doesn't the DOL issue with a preofile-view photo for people under 21? If so, the typo was carried through to the next step of the license process.

But that is not what Obama wanted, he just wants 60% to have degrees. My sarcasm was the about emptiness of the idea that meeting a goal of QUANTITY will help at all (except for those the loan payments go to). For a degree to be helpful to the individual and the nation, it must enable the recipient to produce more than it cost for the degree. There are many degrees offered that simply will never do that at current tuition levels, and even some of the better (engineering) degrees are being pushed below the line due to rising tuition. For some, not getting a degree but actually going to work will result in more NET benefit (no debt, albeit lower pay; perhaps a chance to get a degree later and get more out of it).

My post was bait, and you took it. The ad hominem attack you included shows me that you really have no faith in your own opinion.

Everyone in a community of detached houses needs to submit a motion (at every meeting) to dissolve the HOA, or reduce its powers to managing the common areas ONLY. Any expansion of their power needs a 100% vote of the property owners.

Why anyone would want yet ANOTHER layer of government (face it, that is what an HOA is) to take money and give orders?

I missed this last week. This was "news" back in December. This link has a transcript and translation and commentary of the voice recorder.

"The Airbus's stall alarm is designed to be impossible to ignore. Yet for the duration of the flight, none of the pilots will mention it, or acknowledge the possibility that the plane has indeed stalled—even though the word "Stall!" will blare through the cockpit 75 times. Throughout, Bonin will keep pulling back on the stick, the exact opposite of what he must do to recover from the stall."

Anyone here have an ARM loan? Was it indexed to LIBOR (most likely it was!)? The games that were played with LIBOR probably cost you money. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2172377/L... Regular loans too, but less opportunity to steal more with rate adjustments. U Mad Yet?

Unfortunately, "Free" means "Free for Me", and with more than 50% of the population benefiting from some form of government payout (that includes government employees) which in turn has the power to just take from those that have rather than compete for income, the votes will continue to favor those who love "Free".

And I disagree that changing presidents will have any impact whatsoever. The damage to our country has come from both sides of the political religions. I think that the proper solution is to find a true 3rd political party and get enough of them in office to break the "majority mandate" (that is, no party has >50% ) True compromise and negotiation will return to politics. (well, one can dream).
