It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.

I believe this may be yet another over-reaction by some scientist wanting to get a grant to fund studies on this subject. T-waves are lower energy than infra-red and nearly in the radio-wave category. The energy in these waves is significantly lower than that of sunlight... which DOES do DNA damage all the time.

While I can appreciate the concern for the unknown, I think the more significant problems with these scanners is there inability to detect liquids and powders as reported by several sites. If the purpose is to detect and prevent attacks like the Christmas bombing attempt, this is NOT the solution as it would have also missed detecting the bomb. Now more common sense solutions like, perhaps NOT letting them on the plane if there FATHER warns our own intelligence agencies well ahead of time would be a much better start.

Even in the house bill think about the disincentive this also sets for increase in wages over time. If someone is currently making below the 50k mark but is getting healthcare from the employer and decides to dump there insurance and just pay the 8% fine. Now the employee is out of any decent health insurance and forced onto the govt plan. Any increase to that employees wages now increase there tax the company will have to pay which will effect any wage increases over time.

I currently have excellent healthcare with my current employer but my overall wages are less than the national average for my profession. I accepted this position because of the excellent benefits valued at significantly more than 8% of my overall pay. With the current plans to tax these "Cadillac" plans (last I heard something like a 40% tax on this) I am sure they would not be able to offer this coverage to me and end up dumping my coverage to just pay the fine as this would bankrupt most companies.

I would say a conservative Republican would never receive one. However, the progressive Theodore Roosevelt was the first standing president to receive this once prestigious prize.

BILL TITLE: Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009

This is a game of distraction. This is slapped into a bill for government control of financial aid. This is NOT a good thing.... this was a political stunt to ramrod BAD legislation through.

Although it is true that low-level enriched uranium can not be used directly to make nuclear bombs, but can be used in nuclear power plants. You need to look at the larger picture. Low-level uranium can be enriched... see the story about the seven thousand centrifuges that they proudly claim to have. These are used to make highly-enriched uranium which has only one purpose... to make nukes. Take that, plus the many statements about destroying Israel and this article becomes more important. First you need the raw materials or low-level enriched uranium... next comes further refinement.

I remember how North Korea claimed all they wanted to do was make a nuclear power plant, appeasement allowed them the time they needed to develop enriched uranium capacity and now they have detonated their 2nd nuke. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it...

Benjamin N. Cardozo served on the Supreme Court from 1932 until his death in 1938. He was technically the first Hispanic on the supreme court with his Portuguese ancestry. He was nominated by Herbert Hoover.
