Would this collection of 'great and good' support removing the World Cup from the UAE on the basis of violations of human rights standards, refusal to ratify conventions, breaches of CEDAW and their treatment of Gays? Just a question of equality of standards being applied.....
I dont believe in a deity as proposed by the mono and polytheists. I am not however so insufferably arrogant as some adherents to the new religion of science to proclaim that I'm right and everyone else is wrong. If a persons belief system gives them some meaning then functionally it is useful (as long as that doesn't involve them forcing it down everyone else s throats) The way things are going, can we expect sectarian clashes between the 'Quantum Physicists' and the 'Chaos Theorists'?
Its funny Ox. I'm a supporter of our and coalition military forces, but Trident is a complete waste of time. Its a Strategic weapon, not of the slightest use in say for example, getting AQ out of the caves at Bora Bora, or even taking out somewhere like Jugroom. The 'nuclear threat' to the UK has changed but the mind sets at the MoD are still rooted in the 'logic ' of the cold war. Fractional Orbital bombardment is not a lot of use when you're trying to nail four or five Salafists in Luton with a bomb in a transit van.
Now, without FOBS, we cant pretend to be one of the 'big players', but to be honest, that went out the window in 1948 with India's independence..
I think you may have annoyed the evangelical fundamentalist atheists......:-)
The Sinners promise a United Ireland, The DUP promise d a stronger Union. Thor promised to banish the Ice Demons. Seen any Ice Demons lately? Vote Thor!
I think the issue is also one of we, the taxpayer subsidise the research through incentives for the pharma companies and University research, but when the new drugs are produced, there is little or no payback in terms of cost to the NHS. No doubt Pfizer buying Astra Zenica will help, or have I mixed up my meds again....? I don't know if its poor contract administration /drafting, but if we pay for the development of a medicine, why the hell should the private global corporates then have the power to decide who lives and dies through their pricing structure? On the prescription charge issue, Didnt it cost more to recover the charges than was raised through the charges themselves?
Now if they had gone to Maggie Mays in Botanic, they would have seen the Brothers and Sisters at 'church'. ; -)
(If I have to explain, you wouldnt understand)
Is that cooperatively or corporately? ;-) Oh I'm on form tonight Ox! The needs of the many or as in 'Hot Fuzz' The greater good......mumble mumble
You mean hes white?????(Welles, Olivier etc ;-))
I think the terms you are looking for are 'equality of opportunity' and 'anti discrimination' legislation - two distinct legal concepts. Of course the 'market' wouldn't need to have these legal protections built in, no, not at all. All those Fair Employment, Pregnancy related, Age , Disability etc discrimination claims were entirely spurious and mischievous....Self recruitment doesnt happen in markets or should that be Meerkats?..
