I actually don't. Mostly because I'm moody and picky with an extra topping of wishy-washy; and just as sometimes I feel like having that last piece of pizza for breakfast, I also like to read whatever book at whichever time without limiting my choices or being constrained to certain seasons.

Another factor to consider though is that we don't have seasons here in my part of the world (>_<) Well, other than wet season, and dry season (which actually translates to half a year of constant rain, and half a year of constant humidity).
But then again, even when I lived in UK and Australia (which definitely *do* have seasons), I still wasn't much of a seasonal reader.

Though admittedly I can see the appeal... knowing that you're among a group of readers spread across the country, reading the same theme or even the same book -- I imagine it feels like you're in a big club together. I can picture just lounging at the beach when I suddenly see a girl somewhere nearby with a similar read in her hand. It's like making a new friend already! :D

Ugghhh thanks so much; I hope so too. I miss having time to blog :(
Don't worry though, I'm still able to catch up on other blogs during the weekends. At least it makes me feel not so out of touch (T__T)

Nah, you're definitely not the only one in this. I have an absurdly lot more to say when I'm criticizing a book rather than when I'm gushing on about it. I think my brain freezes when I liked something, and I can't really find anything to add to it. I'm also not much of a fan gurl, so even gushing alone requires a lot more effort than critiquing something.

Me too. I prefer reading reviews/posts of books I've already read, because then I can add to the discussion in a meaningful way beyond the general "great review". But I'm also glad for the reviews of books I've never heard of before, since it's a great way of discovering new books. Usually I'll only read a review of an unknown book if it is a genre I like (fantasy, paranormal, mystery, etc.) I like a wide range of genres so it's not that hard! Ha ha.

I personally don't *not* read books because it's mainstream [huh? what kind of reason is that? lol] but I *will* avoid a mainstream book if the reviews of it have been largely unfavourable, or if it's a genre I generally tend not to like [NA, romance/erotica]. That said, I also often read books that not many other bloggers seem to be reading -- but that's more coincidentally rather than something I actively planned.

I like crime novels, in theory. I think the mystery aspect really draws me. But a poorly executed crime novel is just boooring. I tend to enjoy crime-mixed-with-fantasy novels, my most beloved in this genre would be the Lord Darcy series by Randall Garrett and Michael Kurland.

Glad I'm not alone! Most people seem to be forgiving when it comes to YA, ha ha ha...

Okay well, that figures.... I haven't read *any* of them!! I guess I've been picking up the wrong YA books, then. To be fair though, I've heard of Clariel (and the Abhorsen series in general); I didn't know it was YA, though!

Oh yeah, Coraline.... I didn't read the book but I did watch the movie. I thought it was middle grade, but still - definitely loved the movie although it creeped me out in ways I can never explain.

Thanks for the list, I'm definitely checking them out!

Ha! Yeah people tend to be more forgiving when it comes to YA. I don't know why Young Adult has to automatically be associated with boy-crazyness though. I don't remember being so obsessed to find my "other half" when I was a teenager, but that's probably just me #eh
