I read the first two chapters of The Magicians and put it aside. Oh hey a coming of age story about a boy in a new england prep school who is angsty about not getting laid, yawwwwn. There's probably going to be at least one paragraph about masturbation before the fifth chapter.

Not at all surprised to hear about the girlfriend getting killed. I'm glad I stopped reading it.

I'm an Angeleno turned Bluenoser. I love my new country! It's so adorable!

- There is a HEAT ADVISORY today. The high will be 26C / 79F. My husband is moaning about the unbearable heat.

- While in Canada, I watched my Canadian husband apologize to another Canadian for being "too Canadian."

- Gently poking fun at Canada is a Canadian national pastime.

- The people in Nova Scotia are super-friendly and community-oriented. Living in Halifax is a bit like living in a small town, except it's got 300K people or something.

- You can fish up blue lobsters off the coast. If you catch one, it will grant you a wish.

I only moved to Canada a six months ago from the States, so some things about the True North Proud and Free are a mystery to me. For instance: how can anyone afford to shop at Roots? That t-shirt was probably like, fifty dollars (Canadian).

... It's the cute beaver logo, isn't it? It is really cute.

(I'm a Maritimer, though, not like you decadent _southern Ontario_ people.)
