Just after the second world war my home country of England opted to embrace socialism by voting out one of the most anti socialism leaders ever The great Sir Winston Churchill. After leading the country with strength through the war, the English people opted for a welfare state and voted for the promises of the Labour party. Now look at the state they are in. Does this sound familiar? History is repeating itself here in the United States.The situation happening now is the same as what happened in England in 1945. The war had ended England was bankrupt and people wanted some sort of change. The labour party just as the Obama administration now, seized on the moment to entrap people with the promise of help, in the form of welfare and government hand outs. All this even though the war had drained all the money the country had but still government programs were put in place spending money they did not have. It took longer for England to recover from the war than it should have and even then it was never and will never be the same. Take heed America learn by the mistake of the English, don't be fooled by the promises made by a government who is using bad times to fool the people that there way is for the better. Because it never is.

Yes I missed the boat lol. I just hope that I will get to live the life my ancestors did with freedom and reward for hard work.

The whole point I was trying to make is that at least here you have a better chance to defend your home and person against a armed attack, because of your right to bear arms. And yes I too know someone who is not rich that has a shotgun legally but he got his years before the strict laws made it near on impossible for Joe public to enjoy that right.

I hope too that this country can be saved. I have watched my country of birth slowly get rotten to the core. I really do think that the American People (the ones that are not brainwashed) have the will and fight to stop the rot setting in here. The thing is that the English people including myself, never knew anything different. we were brought up with Socialized medicine and companies being run by the government. That change slightly in the late 70s when Prime minister Margaret Thatcher privatized companies that were government run. But still the health care or NHS as its called was and still is run by the government. With my whole life so far being under socialism I saw the light. That is why I moved here to hopefully to make a better life. But many people in England depend on it as i said in my first comment kids are living school holding their hands out for the freebies. Its now that the older generation are sitting back and saying "this is not right", but now I fear its too little too late. I just hope that the people here stand up sooner and not later and stop it happening. It will be very sad to see a great country go the way of a once great country.

I am 41 years old and lived in England up until two years ago so that's a total of 39 years . I lived in London, Essex and Birmingham. So I think I have a good knowledge of England. You must realize that Britain as a whole could fit into Texas twice and the amount of crime involving a weapons may not be on par with the whole of The US. If Britain was the size of the US then I think that that rate would be on par or even worse. My point was not that the UK had a worse crime rate,but that taking away guns or not allowing guns does not make a country safer. It makes the citizens more at risk from the mindless thugs who will get guns whatever the law.

As for your point about hunting. The laws are so strict on getting a hunting rifle or shotgun that you have to be very rich or of noble blood to get one unless you want to buy one on the black market and take a chance. And even then a Pistol is out or the question. Should you still doubt my citizenship or knowledge of my home country I would gladly sing the UK national anthem for you . Please don't think I am being rude but Spending a couple years in a country does not make you a expert, I have only been here for two years and my knowledge of this country is limited and I would expect to be questioned on comments made about it but not on a country I have lived in for 39 years. You don't get read every thing that really goes on you should know that by the lack of press coverage of things going on here at the moment.

Living in England you cannot even defend your own home. Not allowing law abiding citizens the right to bear arms doesn't stop people being shot. England as a very big problem with knife attacks and shootings. The reason is that the people who commit these crimes know that they are free to pull a gun or knife knowing that the victim is unarmed and unable to defend them selves. Even the Police don't carry guns so what chance do you have? I do own a gun now and I exercised that right as soon as I could. It doesn't make me a mad man, I am not going to go shooting people for fun nor because need a bit of extra cash. I got one to firstly protect my family and myself and secondly as a sport.

The Idiots that want to take our rights to bear arms away should take a good look at England and see that a country that doesn't even allow you to carry mace is a more dangerous place than a country like this who allows its people (at the moment) to arm themselves.

I will help all I can to stop the fast slide towards Socialism. I would wish anyone to live European a life. The endless waiting for a hospital bed, high income and sales taxes and the open door for illegal immigrants to run a mock and live better life's than the tax paying citizens. This is just some of the things I had to put up with when I was in England.

I give what I can to help and support this country avoid all of that.

I am not a Doctor. My first initials are D R. I get that many times and even my Friends call me Doctor Webb as a joke. I can see that this country is moving fast to socialism and reading about the Women in Texas who was told to take down the Stars and Stripes because it offended some guy sound very very much like England. Beware all.
