The "Constitutionals"? A party which follows the Constitution? What a novel and insane idea. Where do I sign up?

Your last line says it all. "Information is the key. . ." The problem is most people these days reley on others for their information. They do no personal homework. To strengthen your position and debate the opposing view, you must know at least something about both sides.
I am a Christian, yet I read the satanic bible. I voted republican, yet I read obama's books. (tough read). Laerning other viewpoints didn't change my mind. But I could argue with knowledge, not emotion.
The 2nd amendment says we CAN have guns. If you don't want to, don't. If you want to, do. YOU have the right to chose. However, the lack of knowledge about firearms is what makes them dangerous. If you don't know how to drive, you don't get behind the wheel. Education and information is "the key" to safety and may reduce fear of the unknown.

Maybe, just maybe, if we could change the environment at capital hill, we could change the denizens therein.
1. Salary equall to the national average.
2. NO pension from this position.
3. Only basic costs covered by taxpayers. "Junkets" and "fact finding tours" must be approved.
4. All elected officials held to same laws and codes of conduct as average citizens.
5. All proven crimes: bad checks, perjury, drunk driving, extortion, etc. punished as a 'common' person.
If something like this were the case, maybe those seeking office would be doing so for the right reasons.

Seeking, thank you for this post. I have held the view for a while that we already have term limits. They are called elections. However, they only work with an educated electorate which casts it's vote based on qualifications, record, (if any), and logic. This last election shows that not to be the case. obama's record is short, his qualifications non-existant, and his platform vague. Many other elected officials, Reid, Kennedy, Pelosi, Frank, et al, constantly say and do things which prove their dis-connectedness with both Joe American and reality. Yet they continue to get re-elected. Style, emotion, appearance, and plain ignorance must account for this. Term limits may be the only answer to the problem. Unfortunately, this creates another problem. We end up throwing out the baby with the bathwater. We lose the good as well as the bad.
