This story makes me very -very angry!! How on earth were these people able to be foster parents let alone adopt any child?? The State of Indiana took these children from their bilogical parents for whatever reason and put them in this home? You have got to be kidding me!!
In my opinion - you have done nothing more than take these children out of the frying pan and thrown them into the fire!!
There had to be "red flags" prior to all of this happening! Let's go back to "an eye for an eye" and maybe some of this stupid crap would stop!!
I hope they throw the book at them - if not, you are only opening the door for more of this kind of thing to happen!!
REMEMBER Mr Prosecutor - Indiana supports "Kids First" keep that in mine please!!
What a horrible thing to happen - My heart and prayers go out to all of those affected and especially to the ones that lost their lives and perished in these expolsions. May the Good Lord be with all of you!!
What an absolutely wonderul story this is and wonderul dog Chica is!! Thank you WTHI for sharing this heart warming story!!
I agree with Catfishy! I hope they sue the state and get all they can! Yeah-it may come out of tax dollars but so does free housing and food stamps, etc! Atleast these parents have a reason to be collecting. Sorry for the loss of your child Vilaria-but if you lost your child due to negligence by the State - you should have sued too.
The only way this type of stuff will stop is when the citizens have had enough and decide to fight back!!
My children are all grown and they all graduated through the public school system. you missed my point intirely. All that I am saying is that from the time a child leaves his home and gets on the school bus and until he arrives back at home, the school system is responsible for what happens to him during that time frame and it should be the same for the state of indiana. The STate of Indiana made the medical decisions for her. Do you think she had any input into what Dr she seen or what hospital she went to? lol - she may have even had a family Dr that would have known what to do and what meds to give her. Because the STate made this decision - they should be held resonsible for her death. I can tell you - had this been one of my children or even a family member for that matter - I would not stop until I got JUSTICE!!! You are also making an assumption that this young lady distributed drugs--I do not know her or anyone in her family, and I have never been a drug user, however, I would not make an assumption like this. She obviously done wrong and was paying for it - but she should have paid for it with TIME - not DEATH!!
I just read the article stating that Indiana is denying any wrong doing- however, this young lady was 24 years old and obviously died while in state custody! I feel the same way about children attending public school. The state says your child must attend school-therefore the school should be held totally responsible for the safety of your child while he is in their care! It should be no different for the state. Rachel was in their care and they should have made sure that she stayed safe while in prison, or under a doctor's care - it really doesnt matter, they should be held responsible. To you mom -Im so sorry for your loss and I hope that you fight for the right of your daughter and for the truth to come out! If we as parents dont fight for our children, no one else is going too so dont give up!!
She became the property of the State of Indiana when they arrested her and threw her in prison. In my mind the state of indiana is responsible for her - they arent going to accept the responsibility but they should. I still hope the parents fight as long as they need to and get the answers they deserve and that their daughter deserves!! Keep fighting!
It's time the attorney general's office goes after those that are truly prescribing meds and/or defrauding medicaid and leave the godd ones alone!!
Obviously an inmate's health is not any prisons first priority!! Good going dad - dont stop until you get the answers your looking for!
