I actually thought that it was much less grisly than the book. The slaughter of all the Stark soldiers, hundreds of bodies floating down the river and most of all the chapter ends with you thinking that Arya is dead too.

Looking back, I had a similar reaction to some of the fans watching the TV show though I kept it to myself; as is required by law for English gents such as myself.

I'm 10 episodes in and it's cleverly put together, I like the way the series gradually reveals more details in scenes that have already been shown. Also some very funny moments and great in-jokes from the first three series.

Movie - awesome 80s Arnie sci-fi (awesome as in "so cheesy it's funny")
Book - awesome Stephen King dystopian sci-fi

Similarities between the two - the title is kinda the same

I use Media Temple, it costs more than some other hosts but I love it for a number of reasons. I get a lot of flexibility in managing domains and sub-domains, easy access to databases with very few restrictions. The service level is excellent too, usually if I've needed help with anything, I've heard back within a couple of hours.

I started reading the books after watching the first series and have enjoyed all of them hugely. I now find I'm only watching the TV show for the performances, thankfully my favourite characters are brilliantly cast (Tyrion, Bronn, Arya).

I've noticed a trend in my reading habits over the past few years; I often read about a movie or series in production that's based on a book and then go and read the book. I guess my thought process is that if a book is worth turning into a movie then it's probably going to be even better to read.

Agreed, I thought the movie was excellent and it's important to note that most of the story changes for the movie were actually written by Adams who had been working on the screenplay for some time before his death.
