Both 1984 and Animal Farm were anti-Communist (i.e. Stalin) yes, but it was also anti Tory, anti-fascist. I suggest you actual read George Orwell's Notes on Nationalism. He also worked with anarchists and Marxists in the Spanish civil war, I would also suggest you read about his life and what Orwell stood for. I am not siding with socialism or communism, I am merely saying that the author of this otherwise well written piece is wrong in his ascertain that George Orwell was conservative or that his work can only be seen through a conservative lens. The man that also wrote Down and Out in Paris and Burmese Days was not conservative.

Orwell was a well documented socialist and pro-Trotsky supporter. His literary idol was Jack London, also a socialist. Do your research.
