Why don't we just come right out and admit that sportsball players are above the law? It'd be a lot more straightforward than dicking around with courts and suspensions, and it all ends up the same in the end.

Snark aside, I live in central PA (AKA the part of Alabama that got jammed between Philly and Pittsburgh), and most people here are either happy it finally got struck down or don't particularly care one way or the other.

As a born Virginian, I think I might hold a little more pull with the Confederate apologists that seem to be trawling Wonkette looking for things to get upset about. So here goes my attempt to at least slow the tide of deleted comments down:

Hey guys! THE SOUTH LOST THE CIVIL WAR. It's high time you acknowledged that and moved the hell on! And by all accounts losing the war was a good thing in the long run, seeing as all antebellum accounts point to the South being a retrogressive, hierarchical hellhole even by the standards of the time!
