You just gotta stay one lesson ahead of them. Seriously. I've been adjuncting English at a cc for more than a decade and would love to help you out. I knew almost nothing when I started.

Really wish this had come up two weeks ago when I was teaching Marxism to my summer class... How obnoxious would it be to email them now?

My big tip for consuming more fruits and vegetables is to prep it for consumption when you come home and you're still riding high from being at the market, then store it in clear containers front-and-center in your fridge. Chop up the melon, wash and tear the greens, take all the grapes off the stems, etc. Put a paper towel in the container with the container with greens, berries and the like.

Also, you know what it a great breakfast? Slice the top off a gorgeous tomato, top it with cheese, broil. I do this way too often.

This follows a major frustration of mine where women are given the professional advice to work for companies with generous (snort) maternity benefits ala Lean In aka "work for companies with heart of gold" instead of insisting on systemic change.

We do the "Parents decide when you eat and what and kids decide how much." Then I make sure to serve three meals every day with variety, always including something I call a "sure bet" (cup of yogurt, berries, something with peanut butter, etc.) We try and limit snacks as much as possible and that helps. If she's hungry between meals, milk or a piece of fruit is always an option.

I think if you already ended the relationship, it's fair for him not to want any more conversations. Of course, I don't know if there are other details that warrant exploration but the benefit of breaking up is not having to be around each other anymore, right?

Nice list! Good to see we both think the Getty is Worth It.

If you're open to Uber or Lyft, you'll get around fine.

For a five day trip, I'd recommend:

- Chilling at the beach for a day (I like Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Beach. Good food, easy parking, lots to walk around and enjoy)
- A day around Griffith Park (hit the observatory) and an evening in Eagle Rock/Silver Lake (good bars, great food)
- A "downtown day" that starts with Little Tokyo/Olvera Street for food and shopping, then a night of bar hoping downtown (end at The Standard's rooftop bar)
- A full day at The Getty
- A day in Pasadena (because I love Pasadena. Good food, nice bars, Gamble House, Norton Simon, Huntington Gardens.)

Most of these can be accessed with light rail and involve a lot of walking. The Getty would require an Uber.

But I'm a little older than the average Toastie (mid thirties), so my finger might not be on the pulse.
