I live well outside the 500-year flood zone. I can get flood insurance, just like anyone else in the City can. In fact, in 2008, I requested a quote in February, because I had a bad feeling about the upcoming Spring and Summer. I never actually got flood insurance, and didn't get flooded, either, but it was available. However, if you live outside of the 100-year flood zone, there's a waiting period before the coverage takes effect.

Either way, flood insurance was available, and still is available. Misinformation is bad for everyone.

That's the fourth article written by DMR so far on this story. The buyers dig themselves further into a hole each time they open their mouth; they recently admit.ted that they knew their cousin used the same lo.ophole to cancel a mortgage a year prior.

The mortgage lists the buyer as "Matthew Danielson, a Single Person." There was no second signature, the buyer lied.

Businesses aren't making any laws or ordinances. But private property is just that, private property. If they don't want you on their property because you have a gun, they don't have to let you on, no matter what reason they give.

And, as a member of free society, you have the right to choose who to give money to and whose businesses you want to patronize, for whatever reason you want, up to and including "because they don't allow weapons".

Except for properties managed by the Linn County Conservation Board. Or Linn County offices that are housed on non-County-owned property...

Of course, if the article had complete sentences ("The county’s conservation board will continue to set the weapons policy for property it manages, including."), we would know which of those Linn County Conservation properties restricted permitted carry...

Des Moines Register followed up on the story today, the couple has a history of foreclosures and a relative who got a free home due to this same loophole:

Not sure why the bank didn't invoke their rights under the "errors and omissions" clause that the buyers signed at the time of closing.

Also, on the mortgage, the borrower is listed as "Matthew D. Danielson, a Single Man", which, if he was married at the time, was an outright lie.
