You are more right than what you know. There was a research paper done years ago on people switching from from incandescent to flourescent, which concluded that less total energy is consumed (including heating the house) by using old incandescent in the winter, and flourescent during warmer months.

We have one of the highest gas taxes in the nation to pay for roads. What do you mean we don't have enough freakin money to pay for road maintenance?

I keep hearing that we went to war because of oil...so shouldn't gas prices be about 79 cents a gallon like it is in Persian Gulf countries?

There is probably a logical reason for our lawmakers to vote for and allow these tax breaks. I would guess that it mostly has to do with keeping consumer prices low and jobs local.

You take away the tax breaks, we will likely see consumer product prices go up resulting in fewer products being purchased because of the economy.

This could really hurt us trying to get out of this recession.

So, aeresol cans are even because they deplete the o-zone layer and can cause global cooling, whereas cars are evil because the create greenhouse gasses that can cause global warming.

Sounds like the two can live in harmony to me!

Keep raising taxes, and consumers will change their spending habbits by cinching their belts.

If it was about taking their oil (or anybody from the gulf region,) gas would be $1 a gallon, not $4!

Nice to see a banker finally going to jail, but a banker ripping off another bank isn't nearly as bad as banks ripping off the consumer.

The predatory lending practices and foreclosures that led us to our recession should be reason enough to jail all bankers!
