Ron Paul is sponsoring H.R. 1233, Taxpayer's Freedom of Conscience Act. This would prevent spending any taxpayer money for abortions, here or abroad.

Suggest you check it out and nudge your reps.

I was wading throuhg all the replies to see if it would show up.

"We surround them" is the phrase Glenn Beck started the 912 project with. The basis is not that we are surrounded, but that there are really a lot more of 'us' than 'them'.

Appointment of Czars:

From 2nd Parapgraph of Article 2:

... and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

Has the Congress given the executive branch authority to appoint Czars without Senate advice and consent??

The old ones aren't voting for him anyway. Most of those old folks are conservative. Might as well let them die off and give some illegals amnesty.

I agree. My only real hope through this mess is God.

Unfortunately, I can see a repeat of what happened over and again in the old testament. I believe the Bible is the Word of God, but maintain a somewhat looser interpretation than many fundamental Christians. One thing is true, though, no matter what: God lets us move along in our free will, but every now and then He gets sick of it all and wipes most of us out so He can start again. We're close to that point now.

All I know is this: If I go to the hospital and tell them I am NOT insured, and will self-pay, I normally get a 50% discount. A few years back my wife went through a diagnosis of exclusion fror post-polio sequelae. They needed to do 20 or 30 blood tests, at an expected cost of $3,000. I paid $1.500. She needed two MRIs at $1,500 - I paid $750. And on and on.

Why should it cost twice as much if you have insurance? This is why I choose to be uninsured, and pay my own way as I go.

I realize many can not pay as they go. There is much the government to do to fix the situation, but taking over health care is NOT one of them.

I am hoping the people will come out in 2010 (15 months) and bring a new, sensible congress. I think some of the reps are starting to feel the heat (witness the blue dogs and the health care bill).

We need to keep pushing. I am lucky to be from the 14th District of Texas (Ron Paul), but I am concerned. If it doesn't about-face by then, I plan on heading to Costa Rica or Belize. In 5 years I should be able to dump American citizenship. Yes, for the first time in my adult life, I am truly ashamed to be an American.

I just had an interesting thought.

Until BHO got in, everyone complained about the huge budgets brought on by "W". How about congress pays for any increase over 2008 budget by taking it out of their pay?

When they reach zero - no more bills.
