Euro, just as a matter of interest, where did you get this information from, was it in fact the RAF that killed the 120,000 men woman and children.
The poppy is a world renown symbol...to remind us of all those brave people who gave their lives for us to have the freedoms we have today. The people who burned them are scumbags...the lowest of the lowest....but then we must remember that they have been brought up lacking education and they do not know the real meaning of what the poppy stands for. Poor a***oles.
For the OO to pull this kind of stunt on remembrance Day is nothing short of pathetic. November 11, is the day we remember all of our dead during the past wars. The OO is an embarrassment to our country. The international community must think we are a right bunch of idiots. Seriously, when you think of it, what kind of an idiot did we elect to Stormont.
Fisk is entitled to his opinion, which I think is a bit over the top. However I will be wearing my poppy (a plain one) to remember all those that have given the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, in order for me to live in a democratic society, enjoy freedom of speech and the right to live in a civilized country.
Thank you casper. I do not have the time of day for the IRA, UDA,UDR etc. etc. Pain and suffering beyond belief was perpretrated on all of us. There is a part of me that often wonders, why did the Peace Process take so long? Could we not have started talking in the early seventies.
What planet are you living on? There is as much chance of the ROI joining the Uk as there is of me winning he lottery. Further Westminster has been trying to get rid of us for years and years. In another four or five years, we will be Northern Ireland, a little statelet floating up the Lagan. It is going to be very difficult for many of us to understand (from both communities), but honestly London would love to see the back of us.
You have a god given talent to be able to say the right thing, at the right time.
Good Luck
You are absolutely right casper, we must all move on, for the sake of our children. However you state.....".friendly with anyone, and if in the past people were discriminated against, then this was wrong, but we are". In my opinion, if you were really sincere about moving on you would have said...'in the past people were discriminated against, this was wrong,'.
Let us not air brush our history in Northern Ireland.
Say a big thank you to Martin. If not for him, Sean Gallagher would have been giving the acceptance speech at Dublin Castle. I have a feeling, which is not going to be very popular in some circles, that before Michael D's presidency is over, we could very well be having the vote up here.
