Rating ratings ratings...why do we all obsess over something that until Wrestling news sites only TV advertises and TV execs gave two craps about. Does it mean TNA are doing well ? Does it mean TNA are doing bad? All I know is that they need to establish their own identity again or the ratings will flatline or go down. I just hope Spike stops pressuring them to be more like WWE. Someone at TNA needs to tell Spike to bugger off and let them be in charge of the direction of their top rated show.
Have always liked the "bounty" concept. I think they should use it to bring in someone new come to Impact to make some extra cash. More than likely it will be EC3 try first and tell his aunt Dixie he will gladly do it for free. I really hope the new Angle angle isnt a rehash of the fairly recent Jeff Hardy "redemption" story. Or too similar to the HBK "lost my smile" from years ago. But realistically not too many ways this angle can go. Really thinking we are going to see Anderson interfere in the World title rematch sparking a Bully/Anderson feud. Should be a really good live Impact this wek.
I have been watched wrestling every week of my life for forty years now and have seldom seen a match ending or angle that someone hasnt done somehwere before better or worse. To jump all over any promotion for "copying" a match or angle is just kinda stupid. Is the rehashed angle well done? Thats what really matters. I like the way the AJ story is going and look forward to what happens next. Are they copying or going to copy the "summer of punk"? I dont watch WWE and didnt when they did that angle so to me it really doesnt matter. Could TNA be more original overrall? Of course they could. It would be nice to see someone at least try to do a new angle or try to be a bit more inovative for a change.
I enjoyed the PPV alot. Not quite up to standards of TNA biggest event of the year but overrall very enjoyable. The GOOD:
Tag match was very good and I think its about time they pulled the trigger on the Bro-mans. I have liked this team from the beginning and think the are underrated and unduly hated. The Angle/Roode was the classic I knew it would be. AJ/Bully delivered on action and emotion a main event should have. The BAD: Sabin cheats (kinda) to win the Ultimate X? Not a Sabin fan and the use of the ladder was not what I think of when I think of Ultimate X. Interference in the KO match ...yawn...and dont really care the Overrated Tapa is now Gail's ..muscle(?). The debut of EC3 made a complete waste of his talents and was abit of a joke. Would rather have seen him cut a promo than have a squash match. Sting/Magnus wow that was a terrible match and ended up showing Magnus as very limited in the ring.
Back when they used to have a replay on Saturday nights the drew close to 80% of the original viewership of the Thursday showing. Not sure why they stopped the replays. Incidently the PPV buy rates were abit higher at that time I believe. Not sure why they dropped the replay. I think they could get better ratings on a different night as they often go head to head with football games on Thursday. Be interesting on the quarter hour breakdowns who viewers watch and who makes them tune out.
I think its damage control in case the negotiations dont pan out. They can slip Hardy into the main event.
I disagree the guy is very talented and as far as "charisma" whatever. Davy jr has alot "presence" in the ring and the second generation connection is a great selling point. Most people judge him based on his WWE work. He is much better than he was allowed to be in WWE. I met him here in Calgary at a indy show and told him he would be a great fit in TNA.He is a very freindy personable guy. I think if TNA brought him in with the right angle I think he could be a huge star.
Hogan owns his name and likeness Bishoff is blowing smoke as per usual.Hogan had to sign off to be in the game google his holding company. ho cares if I could make money off my name I would.
Hogan owns the rights if you google his holding company one of the hits is for Hogan's Wrestling a low tier video game released in 2011. So Hogan had to sign off on his name and likeness to be in the game. SO Bischoff is not in the "know" but trying to do some damge control for his buddy as this looks bad for his reltionship with TNA. BUT on that note who cares if Hogan is making a little extra dough on his name really if I could I would.
This years BFG series has been abit less memorable than previous years. Mainly due to a rather unbalanced focus being on the whole Aces and Eights storyline. They shouldnt scrap the concept but perhaps tweak it abit by shortening the duration of it so as not to take as many weeks to get to the final four. It weakens the series as after more than two months of BFG matches dominating Impact it seems less exciting. A shorter more intense tournament with only the "cream of the crop" would be appreciated. Please no more Parks or Bradley type entrants to the tournament.
