I love how the back of the house is progressing. It looks like the deck support system is going up; or maybe it is just a platform for the workers to walk on.

I miss this blog being a little more active like others have mentioned. I agree that we are running out of things to blog about because there are not many voting options left.

Generating landscape plans for my front yard is my latest project, so that I can start planting as soon as the weather gets nice. I want an informal woodsy look, but I'm not sure how to do this. I'm thinking about planting shrubs and trees like mountain laurel, virginia azalaeas, and american holly. Does anyone have ideas on good trees and shrubs, or landscaping tips? My avatar shows my barren front landscape. I guessing that the soil is a bit rocky and the Ph is about 5 since I am surrounded by pine forest. So far I have found the usda plant database very helpful: http://plants.usda.gov/. I wish that I could find the perfect plan online and just copy it!

LilB: Go to the Catskill farms blogspot and look at cabin #14 and #19. I'm not sure but maybe the roof extensions will look something like these homes.

A bit late posting today. I was planning my front landscaping today tor my cabin; a much easier task then Therese of So Cal who actually plowed and planted today. I get tired just thinking about plowing! I've changed my landscaping plan about 4 times now. I think I should give it a rest until late April when it is warm enough to actully "do" anything outside.
Recreation: Much like others; I have no strong opinion about this. I think my votes are going for the putting green for the remainder of the week. I'm just not sure what kind of upkeep they are. There would be none with a BB court.
Deck Stain: Gray. Cooler on the feet (see DGustaf comments) and I think it will look better with the Sage siding.
Rails: Vertical posts because the cable is a bit to "modern" for me and horizontal rails would block the view more.
Garage Door: Reservation style for the character; I think that this ranch is going to need character.
Lights: Don't really care; but I guess I like the black the best with the green siding and gray deck.

I can't wait until tomorrow when the voting choices are available. I am hoping that there will be a surprise "special feature" to vote on for the back yard.

Chuck: Based on the floorplan pictures; carrying food and drinks from the kitchen area to the deck may be a bit clumsy. The single door to the deck from the main part of the house is from the living room, and the door swings open so that accessibility from the kitchen area would be awkward (especially while carrying trays of food and drink!). I like to use my deck for entertaining and dining. Is there some way that you can make access to the deck from the kitchen/counter area easier for the host or hostess? This question assumes that I am interpreting your floorplans correctly...
P.S. Based on your website pictures; I love your work!

BlognBob: I have a similar kitchen arrangement to the blog cabin. I use this area more for entertaining. Guests use the counter to munch on snacks and drink their drinks while I am multi-tasking in the kitchen. There is no room for cooking AND laying out snacks on my counter. Do you think your suggestion is feasible? I'm not sure how big these cooking surfaces are... Just a consideration...

I am confused today too about the order of comments. I had to search around a lot to sort through new and old comments.

I wish it was easier to vote 10 times per day without going through the process 10 time individually. I am going to get carpel tunnel syndrome from all the repetitive computer clicks each day!

I appreciate the humor in many of the posts this week. It brightens my day to laugh after a long day of work!

Joan: My husband is a hunter and recently got a pisol permit. I have always been afraid of guns, but now I am thinking about getting trained and licensed (not sure what I will need) so that I can target practice with my husband and maybe develop some piece of mind (with the right training of course). I'm not sure if I will be able to do this. There is a certain power in holding a gun for any reason that might be too overwhelming for me to handle. We will see....

Oh well, I gave you the thumbs up because your votes matched mine exactly. Then you went back to the panel door! I still give you a thumbs up anyway! The 9 will look OK too..
