You should at least check out the GOOOH info on youtube. Seems to be a chance at getting the politicians out. I have watched the videos explaining the concept and it appears to be viable. They are not opposed to third party candidates such as yourself. Just a thought.

First I would like to say that I appreciate the debate. Yes I have heard of the program and you are right, it does seem to be working. To be clear, mandatory education in prison will cost money. People in prison that have no education had the opportunity to get that education in public schools and they chose not to take advantage of it then so why would they in prison? Maybe some would but with Gov. spending already out of control I think that it is low on the priorities list to gamble on whether they would or if once released they will just go back to getting what they want the easy way.

I think that there should be 5 things provided to a criminal. Food, Water, Shelter, A place to get some exercise, and Plenty of time to think about what they did and how that affected other people.THAT IS ALL. Yes our taxes go to grants for education but not to people who commit crimes. When you do a crime you lose certain rights.

Educating a criminal in your own words does not always work so why should tax dollars be wasted?

(There are no practical answers in that sense. The truth is nothing we do will fix crime. We have gone in both directions with the same outcome. Certain states are more liberal on crime, no change. Other states are hard on crime, no change. Rehabilitation doesn't always work, capital punishment isn't much of a deterrent. There is no answer to your question, besides the one i gave - idealistic though it may be. Until we examine the root of the problem, we are just spinning wheels. The question then becomes, how do we change our attitudes?)

You are absolutely right that education can be a great thing, however, your uncle was in prison for a crime that he committed against society so why should society allow him the opportunity to better himself, which he obviously was capable of doing on his own, during his sentence? That is not providing the intended result which is to discourage doing a crime and going to prison. You would not send your child to the corner for back talking or whatever and provide them with a coloring book, a TV to watch cartoons, and their friends to play with. I assume that your uncle was a success story and did not return to prison and that is great but that is not the right way to punish a crime nor is it the right way to improve yourself.

I think you are right. I would advocate a solitary confinement situation for everyone in prison no matter what the crime. No interaction at all with any other inmate. No TV. No Books. You are there to be punished, not educated or to make friends. In a small cell 23 hours per day. small confined exercise yard by yourself 1 hour. That is your life until your sentence is done.

This is not about health care. It is about control. There are not 46 million people without health care, the number is more like 8 million. I do think those people could use some help but BO inflates the numbers in another attempt at the "Urgency clause". Read it for yourself here: http://pacificresearch.org/press/radical-health-c...

I think that we are still on the way down. We will definitely drop when the 95,000 people lose their jobs because BO doesn't want to buy anymore F-22's. There are a lot of people trying to con us in to thinking that the economy is picking up but all you have to do is look around. What you see is happening everywhere.Don't be sucked in to the trap of going back to spending like before. SAVE EVERYTHING YOU CAN!
