Really nice article. What I would add is that most of these skills evolve with time. Since I did many games int the last three months and got to know the advanced concepts of the game, I intuitively started to do work with plan a and plan b and sometimes improvised even a plan c (which only worked out once :P). Though being aware of these processes makes it easier to improve. I even use this concept, the basic plan of my list against many other list concepts, during list building.
