Hmm, not sure if I'm going to read this. I don't follow her but see some of her tweets. Sometimes I all "Yeah!" and other times I think she's a bit much for me.

I know what you mean about men writing a woman's pov. I read a book from a male author recently and there was a childbirth scene and all I wanted to do was yell: no!

Anyway I was thinking about reading this so maybe I will now. I WAS a high school student in 1988 so this should be interssting.

Thanks for sharing this Jadai! I really appreciate that this series includes an atheist point of view. I've struggled with religion since I was as young as you say you started questioning it. I would say I'm an agnostic right now. I usually keep my opinions on religion to myself in my family as I know some of them have strong beliefs. I'm also of the "live and let live" camp. Good for them, but not for me.

You might want to look into the Metis history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%A9tis_people_(... of which famous rebel Louis Riel was one.

When my daughter was born, I got very into genealogy. I traced some parts of our family back hundreds of years, others only a couple of generations. I've also been fascinated by why they chose to go the places they did and how that all ended up with me. It's all such a roll of the dice. I'll never truly know their motivations, no matter what the records say.

I also have a photo of an ancestress who has my eyes- dark circles and a high eyebrow. I didn't find it disconcerting. I found myself thinking, "So that's where those came from!" Genetics are so fascinating to me.

Yes, I did. I just gave away my copy. I am still waiting for the sequel too. I wonder what happened?

All I want is to grow one any sized pumpkin. Every year I try, every year I fail.

Ah, Matilda isn't real! Of course. Can't have a woman that smart and devious. She must be supernatural. Ambrosio is the most gullible of all men.
