Money is not a litmus test to leadership or ethics. It's ridiculous to even suggest.
Public school teachers, military men and women, community volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club...these are good leaders...and no where near as wealthy as Romney. But, by your litmus test, they are worthless at making "important decisions".

Romney has proven one thing and one thing only...he can earn money for himself...not for his employees, not for people in his community, and not for citizens of our country. He hasn't united opposing sides (a quality much needed in congress), he hasn't walked in the shoes of most Americans, and he hasn't been honest and forthcoming about himself.

On a side note, to suggest all poor people are lazy, dumb, or mental proves your ignorance, or at least your blind elite-ism. There are certainly people who are guilty of being lazy and take advantage of a system designed to help those who are truly in need. But, poverty is a complicated social issue. You're clearly speaking from a perspective formed from never having to experience real poverty.

Kind suggestion: Read some literature about poverty in America, and at least attempt to rethink and challenge your own bias.

She doesn't seem to think she is above everything. She wants a decent public education...like the one you got...so she and her peers can have a solid future. How on earth is that being above everything?

Maybe she's worried about her safety while walking to school. Also, she wasn't just complaining about the bus...larger class sizes and decreased quality of education were other concerns.

I totally agree. Also, I am pretty confident these forums are patrolled by the baby boomers you refer to. What is the matter with them? The person above you referred to our nation's children as "piggies at a trough". It's kind of sickening really...to care so little about other people.

Are you calling kids "piggies"?

Oh, okay, I get it, you're just trying to push your own agenda...you don't actually care about the education or safety of kids.

I completely agree LANDRY12. Finally, someone else who doesn't think Haley is "whining". Thank you.

I think what Haley is arguing for is for EVERYONE to "buck up". Not just her generation. Yours too, and mine. Only problem is the older generation isn't "bucking up". Many have gotten their free education, had their careers, lived in a plush economy, and now want to continue with a plush retirement...all while pointing the finger at the generations they screwed over, calling us "entitled" and "spoiled". We're NOT spoiled. You were.

Of course, it is always easy to make a horrible suggestion like yours when you aren't the one with the disabled child. You clearly have no idea what it is like to care for a special needs child, or you never would have suggested your "real" solution. Just try walking a mile in the shoes of a family with a special needs child...I think some more knowledge about the "real" situation might help you make a more educated proposal.

By the way, not everyone in special education is what you might consider "mentally retarded". Many require physical assistance, but are incredibly smart. With assistance and a good education they could be the future working professional who cures cancer, solves our nations debt crisis, etc. I think you need to "get real", and do some more research.

Wow...what a fantastic and well thought out idea. Have those little "entitled" brats WORK for their education...those lazy 5 year old kids should definitely get up early, walk to school, sometimes in the dark, through dangerous city parks or questionable neighborhoods that aren't policed, and EARN those educations. And the streets are definitely just as safe as they were when you were a kid, so no problem there. You're a freaking genius.
Kids DO deserve the same education you received, and we need them to have it. The girl above didn't say she was entitled to more. She said she deserved to have your generation provide for her generation as much as the generation previous to you provided for your education.
