Ok but I'm in childcare and asking for a raise soon and that passage is surprisingly relevant. They will definitely have to exist without me if they don't start paying me more.
I love Palestrina and only know of him thanks to a Hermione/Snape fanfic I read ages ago.
Oh hey, it's my brain. Kind of reminds me of the Second Thoughts and Third Thoughts from the Tiffany Aching books.
Possibly, if I'm conflating stuff. I thought there was an author voice in the post kind of exaggerating and mocking the "I'm so eclectic" thing, but I might have made that up.
On a completely unrelated noted, I am trying to find an Ortberg or Ortberg-esque post from here or the Hairpin that was making fun of guys who think they're super eclectic or edgy and "prove" this by listing their completely run of the mill musical or book faves. I feel like it may have specifically been making fun of the way this pops up in online dating profiles. Of course I could be conflating a few different articles, but if this rings a bell for someone, I can't seem to find it with Google searching or slogging through the archives and would love some help.
Misandrist mermaid for the win!!
Reading doomed husband every time someone on FB uses DH makes it so much better. Now they're all plotting murder.
OMG DARK DAYS!! I had totally forgotten the name of it, but I've seen that doc and it is fascinating. There's actually an old episode of Law & Order: CI that has homeless (and possibly satanist) people living in tunnels under NYC. The main thing I remember from Dark Days is the guy who had taken in a bunch of dogs and had them penned in underground. I felt really bad for them, living in such a small and dark place (but not for the people? what is up with my brain). But maybe he took them on walks. Anyway, if people want to watch it, it's on Amazon Instant video.
This makes me imagine him tied to the bed frame with a huge grin on his face, and ... I'll be in my bunk.
